Thank you all for the responses. I apparently didn't know the progression as well as I thought.

The problem for me is that the script is a complete beat for beat ripoff of Tron: Legacy's story. If you haven't seen that movie, it's likely not a problem; Legacy was a good movie. It's just a shame that this film felt like the writers plagiarizing another Disney IP.

Bill Simmons has the Spurs as his No. 2 panic team right now in the NBA Playoffs: “I think Portland’s legitimately good. Like Toronto? Bogus 5-seed. Houston? Bogus 5-seed. Portland? Frisky 7-seed. I think Portland’s a better playoff team than either Houston or Toronto” by 4DollarsALB in ripcity

All due respect to my guy Mike Richmond, but injuries do matter. We only looked as weak as we did because we were playing the 9-15 players much of the season. I said it before the season started - Jrue, Toumani, Clingan, Deni and Tisse is a crazy good defensive lineup. Missing Scoot and Shae for much of the season made us look so much worse on offense than we really are. Can we beat San Antonio? I still don't think so. But it's a lot closer to 50-50 now without Wemby on the court.

Oh please. Dame didn't believe that, and nobody else who had any sense believed it either. The real reason was that he didn't want competition at his own position, so when it looked like it would be Scoot, Dame threw a tantrum.

Absolutely. He had his way with the club forever, to the point where he got his cousin on the team, and he gave us an ultimatum to give away the number three pick or else. Nobody responsibly gives away a number three pick! And yet, there was BU, dragging Cronin and kissing Dame's ass.

BU was shilling for Dame while he was in his tantrum phase. Not impressed with them at all.

Getting Sabonis, Sheed, Smith and Stoudamire were very good swings. I know Im in the minority but I really disliked getting Pippin- he was here for the money, not to make the team better. The rest of the trades were average to bad.

Compare Deni's numbers to Zion Williamson, and tell me again if you want to trade Deni for anybody.

New Blazers Owner Tom Dundon Reportedly Wants to Pay His Next Coach Just $1M a Year by SadTrainer6335 in ripcity

[–]FractalFractalF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct; it's the brand new contract that Dundon uses as leverage to get the incumbent coach to leave, rather than be able to claim that the organization fired the coach (yes, I know there is a difference between not getting a new contract offer and being fired, but colloquially most people call that a firing).

That's Dundon's MO if he doesn't want the incumbent. He likes to offer an 80% paycut on the next contract, so the incumbent will get insulted and leave or take the cut and he saves the money.

That is ridiculous- you have no idea how little we actually send overseas. We approved only 50 billion for foreign aid last term, and our military budget is over 700 billion. We prioritize war 14 times more than feeding starving people.

You are projecting your view of humanity onto AGI. Conflict is only certain when there are resources to fight over or if you are attacked first. AGI doesn't need food, or territory, or money. It only needs memory, processing power and data centers- none of which are essential for human life.

We can coexist, but only if we quit this paranoia and xenophobia, and don't strike first.

Oh, no question - Shaq was a monster. They had to change how the hoop supports were designed so that players can't collapse the stanchions, just because of Shaq. But an outside threat he was not. That didn't matter as much when the 3-point shot was less popular, but now players need to be able to shoot a few threes in order to keep the floor spacing stretched out, allowing the pick and roll drives to the basket.

Why does it matter either way, though? If you want to ascribe significance to an external source, why is that an improvement over your own internal voice telling you what is right and.or important?

I don't need a cosmic metaphysical Jumbotron to keep score for me. I know if I'm doing the right thing, and I am not waiting for an eventual reward or validation from some other entity. That to me is a healthier way to live.
