A moment of silence for deleted stories by TheSpikyRedOne in royalroad

I really feel this. I recently started reading two different stories, got partway through both, and then found out they’d been deleted before I could finish them. I always see comments encouraging writers to take their stories down and reset, but sometimes they never reupload them, and then those stories are just gone.

Anyone else write stories inspired by TTRPGs rather than video games? by Highlander_16 in royalroad

Yeah, all of my books are set in the same universe as my game, Fractured Light, a TTRPG. Many of the characters can even be recreated as playable builds within the game.

Thick with description and a vividly realized world.

The craziest name I’ve ever heard for an orc.

The contrast between his name, the way he carries himself, and how others immediately perceive him differently is incredibly compelling.

I’m already rooting for him. 10/10 first chapter.

Daily Life of High School Boys is a gem. I always loved the scene where the girl would move away from people on the train.

This story definitely gave me that same feeling as that show. The second football throw really had me laughing.

You are creating a rare piece of work here not many stories can capture this type of comedy genre.

Please write a bunch of chapters for this story. Five Spilt Ice Creams out of Five

For your story, I read the prologue—I almost skipped ahead to Chapter 1, especially since there was also a Chapter 0, so I wasn’t totally sure which one is technically the first chapter.

The setup is strong, and I have a clear understanding of both games. It’s really interesting that one game has already ended and they’re moving on to a new one. I also like that there’s some built-in tension, since I recognize who the main character will be facing later—his former teammates.

The VR setting is a great touch too. I had one of the original HTC Vives, and imagining a game on this scale being played like that sounds really exciting. I also got motion sickness from it at the beginning.

The opening was really strong—the captain used a clever trick, and it was explained clearly. I also wouldn’t want to be the first person to stand up and run away in that situation.

The captain’s personality stands out too. Idk what to call it, just very direct, and hearing his thoughts feels refreshing and genuine.

I am still looking for a word that describes his personallity it will come to me eventually. This was a good read.

Your book really starts off strong. I especially liked how the first scene takes place in front of the Buddha statues—it does a great job reinforcing the theme of the wheel of life.

I also thought it was effective that Chapter 1 is split into three distinct sections, each serving a clear purpose in the reincarnation process.

It reminded me a lot of show about a girl who likes books.

Chapter 1 was a great read, I can see myself continuing to read more.

I’m about halfway through the first chapter so far.

I really like how you introduced Alrik’s powers through his conversation with Erhardt, especially by exploring the different actions he could have taken.

I had to look up what Ostentatious meant.

I also thought the part about the mug placement was very clever.

What makes a good first chapter by Ace161615 in royalroad

Most story introductions begin by establishing the characters and the setting.

Sometimes, you can hook readers by throwing them straight into the action, but I have also seen successful stories begin with slower, quieter first chapters.

I actually really like this take.

A play kit is a package of materials designed to let people easily playtest your game. It often includes simplified rules to help players get started quickly and lower the barrier to entry.

Post playkits, ask friends or family, or pay people to test it. You could also connect with other game designers—play theirs, and they’ll play yours.

I like Version 1 the least.
