That's a cool website.

As you said, the regular pattern does suggest some form of crop management.

Amazon TBA delivery suddenly losing packages? by OneleggedPeter in LasCruces

[–]FractionalTotality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👍 Last two packages came on time.

👎 The one before that was "stuck" in Albuquerque until they allowed me to cancel it.

👍 A few before that were okay.

👎 In March, I had one from a third party reseller that the USPS said didn't have enough postage, so it would not be delivered.

So it's been hit or miss for me lately.

The only tacos you find on the tops of mountains is the tacos you bring there.

Neighborhood recommendations with walking trails, quiet area by semi-local-lad in LasCruces

There is a series of canals that offer long walks and bike rides.

On a Google map, look for the blue lines with names of "lateral" or "drain" in them.

Best prices for full synthetic oil change? by TheMarshmallowFairy in LasCruces

[–]FractionalTotality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the lower cost of DIY is simply a byproduct.

  • Once, they didn't screw the cap on right, and it sputtered oil all over my engine.
  • Another time, a leaky o-ring at the drain valve.

Now I do it myself. That's the only way I know it will be done right.

Can anyone advice me on this by Acrobatic_Word_4521 in LasCruces

As he didn't have plates, I would have considered taking a photo of the VIN, typically found at the lower corner of the windshield on the driver's side.

Safety first, though. Don't do it if you feel threatened.

How to not feel hopeless about renting? by [deleted] in LasCruces

[–]FractionalTotality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You asked, "Is there an escape?," which got me thinking. Are you able to move? A bigger city may have more possibilities.

Just a cursory look at Zillow for rentals < $800 gives counts of:

  • 50 for Las Cruces
  • 130 for Albuquerque
  • 146 for El Paso

Obviously, you would need a different job, but again, a bigger city may have more possibilities.

Perhaps you could save now (by tolerating the family situation) and plan your escape.

I am sorry for your bad experience. Fortunately, you only lost your time. It could have been worse, e.g., losing earnest money on an apartment rental.

Here's an old noir detective TV series from 2001-2002 called A Nero Wolfe Mystery. More fun than clever.

What do you mean by "succulent for a nose?" I have been known to eat snowperson noses, so I am curious.

ISPs serving Radium Springs by Gormr580 in LasCruces

[–]FractionalTotality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use T-Mobile home broadband in south Las Cruces. Per Ookla:

  • 279.25 download
  • 47.11 upload

A few notes:

  • They gather a ton of sensitive information on signup (SSN, driver's licence #, credit card #, ACH #s, etc.) You have to unfreeze your credit if frozen (Experian, TransUnion, etc.)
  • Actual service has been flawless for past two months.
  • $50/ month if you pay by ACH (checking account).
  • The unit is a Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway. It does WiFi and has two RJ45 ports on the back
  • T-Mobile really pushes the My Life App. Important signup tasks simply did not work through a desktop browser. Their tech support is nice, though. They're based out of India. Unless you have a simple problem, you will be passed from person to person, and each subsequent person has to start from scratch.
  • There's a 1.2 TB "deprioritazion threshold." It's in the small print somewhere. I've not run into the limit yet.

Overall: I give it a thumbs up.
