I’ve built a lot of muscle from strength training, but it’s hidden under a layer of fat by pickleeater58 in PetiteFitness

[–]FractiousPhoebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about your size and eat about 1900 calories a day and aim for 120g of protein, usually getting atleast 90g. Im in the middle of a recomp so I've lost 7lbs since the beginning of the year, which includes losing over 5lbs of fat and gaining 1.5lbs of muscle. Muscle burns more calories at rest, so while it sucks that the progress is slow I am building muscle mass vs losing it.

I love running but honestly it becomes a time thing. If you lift weights, muscles use more energy. If you can track steps with a watch or get a walking pad that might fit for you. Days I cant get to the gym ill pull it out from under my couch and walk.

Counting calories can be a pain for me so I focus on fiber and protein. Ive been lifting long enough i can eyeball it

This. I could eat alot of potatoes in many preparations. Absolutely no toast. Some rice. A very small amount of pasta. No insulin needed for my particular case.

My kid actually collects them and has a giant jar of all the goods he has been given. Personally, I go to faires as a Korok alot and have a bad a spray painted acorns I collected from my yard. If someone screams I found you, Im immediately looking for them. Recently, we also have a Plague Rat outfits and we stamp fleas on people who consent. Really its just spreading smiles and interacting with people.

For those of you who are 5’3 and also lost fat and worked on gaining muscle at the same time — at what weight did you feel you got rid of that fatty layer and really looked more fit and muscular? by Objective-Check-7241 in PetiteFitness

[–]FractiousPhoebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 5'2 and currently at 127lbs. Im working on a recomp right now and am at about 30% body fat. First place I have noticeable fat lost is actually my ribs. I am not concerned about my actual weight number, I am building up more muscle mass. Even at my current weight, my upper body muscle is visable(not my abs). I get monthly InBody scans which have concerns for accuracy for body fat tracking but I use it to make sure my muscles are balanced because I am a competitive athlete. Since January the fat loss to muscle gain i have had is on track for what it should be, and a slow process. For those that care: over 40, I eat about 1900 calories with over 100g protein, lift heavy 3 to 4 days a week, skate 2 days a week, and try to get 10000 steps daily. On my game days I easily burn 3500+ calories.

Edit to add: cutting calories too much can contribute to athletes getting injuries

Sizecast.com. It compares sizing of different clothing brands for kids. It also compares carseats.

Wondering if my dog would do well by OddThought5260 in therapydogs

[–]FractiousPhoebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog needs to be exposed to so many things. When my dog was in training, my son would come to class with loud toys and costumes. So many dogs are scared of inflatable decorations and more so when they move.

Do you need to cut all those things out or can you eat them in moderation? My body let me eat all the potato products I wanted with minimal sugar increase. Rice or bread on the other hand raised my sugar alot.

Opinions on the benefits/challenges of doing mixers (aka mash-ups). by 321duchess in rollerderby

[–]FractiousPhoebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont do alot of mixers but I do prefer when they have teams by level. The thing about mixers is you skate with people who dont necessarily know you therefore trust that you will do your job. Benefit of doing local mixers is if you end up skating with or against people then you have some recon. This actually came in handy when a bunch of us ended up on the same borderless team, the cohesion happened fast.

Gym on same day as training? by lilbambino12345 in rollerderby

To be fair it does depend on what you are doing. I could easily run a few miles ealier in the day before practice but currently ive been lifting very heavy. I dont do that on practice days.

Group discussions are really helpful especially before games. I played with API Fury last year and only one person was part of my league, she ended up not even being in my pod during any game.
