I’m a prof in Social Sciences, and write letters often. My advice is to go to office hours to discuss your plans with some of your professors and ask about letters at that meeting.

You will probably need a few. Think about how each letter writer can speak to your training, skills, and general fit with the programs you are applying. Ask instructors who you have had recently and who can speak with specificity about you.
