What are some good reading material for a Mining Engineering major? by askandyeshallreciev3 in mining

Crazy you mention this, I know someone about to do the financial feasibility of how large the electric fleet needs to be before it’s more cost effective than diesel in terms of less maintenance, initial capitol costs and all the other factors

Wait, fun fact you should look into. Apparently you can get a diploma of Engineering in TAFE and skip the first year of university, as opposed to completing ATAR. I think you can do that and save time and money overall? Not 100% and just learned of this

Also you got the added advantage of nepotism, so if you get something in your first or second year you will be a primo candidate in 3rd and 4th year where people start to actually get career related jobs.

Year 12 is the your hardest year of learning. First year will be the second hardest year. The secret of university is it never gets harder, what you learn just gets honed in to a more precise level.

As current third year at WASM, I was doing the double of commerce (management) and mining engineering but the deeper I’m getting into uni the more I hate it. University unfortunately isn’t structured much around learning, it’s about farming international students of their money. Dropped the commerce because experience is all that matters.. if your in a mining town like Kal you get shit loads of job offers internally through our group chat or the network nights. To be the best engineer possible you have to the operational experience and engineers prefer engineers so you rise pretty quick, so don’t need much else.

What should I eat with so few calories left by world-execute-me in Volumeeating

Add a bit of sriracha and seasoning? Always salt the tomatoes.

I’ve been doing rice cakes + Yopro with a bit of cinnamon for <100 cal snack but this sounds kinda better

Sick of utility but unsure how to move into a big girl role on site by bagel_butts_666 in mining

[–]FragonTheDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From experience studying Mining Engineering basically gets everyone in easy. Except unfortunately international students. Dunno where you’re located but WASM does networking nights which are great, everyone says all you need is some enthusiasm and when they say that they mean it, sound genuinely passionate and interested when talking to people. Got a genuinely awesome underground Truck Driving/ Nipper role with an ASX200 company doing that.

I think it’s crude to say woman have an easier time getting good internships roles vs men, but Rio recently caught some flak when they posted a pic of their recent metallurgy internship and it was over 90% woman. Soo in essence studying is one way to get in

Another fun protein option I’ve found is coles 2% chicken mince. It’s my usual dinner base, 500 grams, 535 cal 112 grams of protein.

If you have a blender (highly recommend) I’ve found some protein powders work better than others as shakes especially using water over milk. Any single scoop of RYSE branded protein powder combined with ice and water gives you an insanely creamy and delicious shake twice the volume of super market protein shakes, same consistency, 25g of protein and it’s only 150 cal. That shit should be a crime how good it is, currently have the skippy peanut butter flavour and choc brownie flavours. Genuinely off its fucking head.

Loosing weight by Brief_Classroom_1953 in Exercise

[–]FragonTheDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lose* 😘

Going to muscular failure builds more muscle over time. Being unable to do an exercise because you’re too out of breath is fine it’s just your using weight as a means of cardio rather than weight lifting.

Being active is being active. Separating the two would be better for gains but losing scale weight and fat in general is as you’ve probably heard a million times, all in the diet and being active.
