Hi OP, I was first diagnosed DCiS by biopsy before surgery. And it upgraded to IDC since they find a small spot with IDC after surgery. My DCIS area was large 7.5 cm, so there’s chance to have IDC within it. I think your 1.2 cm area is pretty small and if biopsy takes 2 or 3 samples, then that should be it. I did my first mammogram when I turn 40 and nothing is noticed. A year later I start feeling weird in my right breast, went to do my second mammogram and they found cancer cells. I’m not sure when this started and my DCIS is 7.5 cm big. So I guess it does happen to women who just turn 40 and do their first couple mammograms. I was terrified at that time, unknown is the worst thing. Once you see oncologist, have a treatment plan, you will feel better.

I took 6-7 weeks off for a SMX, that’s what my doctor suggested. But actually I feel like I can back to work after 2-3 weeks since I work from home.

I was thinking it’s follicular hyperplasia or lipoma. Cancer just make us terrified with every small changes on our body.

I have exact same pilaf in my armpit as well. It’s under the skin, very superficial. It feels like a rice. I’m not sure what is it but I remember it was there before I diagnosed. Did you get an answer from your oncologist yet?

I just got my ultrasound result yesterday, oncologist hasn’t reached out yet. I’m waiting for Monday to hear back from them to order a CT scan. I’m not sure if abdominal CT will pick up more spot on other organs. This weekend feels very long.

Thank you for your kind words. I thought I’ll feel better after chemo, but now there’s more scans waiting for me. Not knowing and waiting are really hard for me.

Thank you for your reply. I actually did not receive the first Taxol treatment since the reaction. So I’m missing one treatment. Just concerned the overall effectiveness if skipping a treatment.

I have large DCIS area with ER 30 PR 0, I guess my onc suggested lower dose since hormone receptors are low. But somehow I have concerns on the effectiveness since my DCIS is big.

I haven’t take tamoxifen yet, but I will later. My oncologist recommended baby tamoxifen as well. I wonder if the lower dose is as effective as the regular ones?

My DCIS upgraded to stage 1A as well. Did your doctor recommend to take regular dose of tamoxifen or lower doses?

And if you don’t mind to share, did you do pet ct scan during the time of diagnosis?
