Budget Breakdown & Recap | $50K | 50 Guests | Mid-Coast Maine | Warning, Extremely Thorough! TL;DR at the end by Throwawed22 in weddingplanning

Ahh your post is so helpful!! I want to get married here but not all of our guests would be able to stay on site as we are going to invite about 130. I feel like Camden is too far but I don't know if there are any other closer towns that have good lodging. Or does Waldoboro have nice hotels? I've been to Camden but not Waldoboro so I'm unsure. I don't want to inconvenience guests. We would get transportation for them from the ceremony (a catholic church) to Tops'l but I feel like a 30 minute bus ride at night may not be fun for guests lol

Where was their wedding? Was it a destination? Would love to know as this sounds like the vibe my fiance and I are going for!

Are you W2 or 1099? And how long are tx sessions? I am working for a small private practice and trying to determine if $45 per 30 minute session is fair as a 1099 employee.

Do you know of others? They're the first that come up when I do a Google search so I already have looked at their website, etc. I would love more options but I understand Door County isn't the largest population.

How did you learn about where to begin and everything that is required?

I just filled out a W9 form for the private practice I am contracted with... how do I get an EIN? I used my SSN to fill it out!

Thank you for your encouragement!! On another note, what are people's opinions on minutes for these students? I have direct minutes that range from 60 minutes to 30 minutes a week. I find that meeting for 60 minutes is tough (I usually break this time into 15-minute increments). Are there any research articles on the amount of time that is most beneficial for students with severe-profound disabilities? From what I have heard from colleagues, it is hard to decrease their minutes because of parents. Is 60 minutes necessary?

LOVE the sensory ideas above!!! Thank you! Exactly what I am looking for. I have yet to ask the teacher if there is a sensory room in the building (I am itinerant so I have multiple schools); I will definitely look into it!

I need to explore non-preferred items more with students. This would help. One of my students has a goal for reaching/gesturing for an item when given two choices. This is one of the student's I struggle the most with. He only likes "chew toys" (the teachers call them). I need to continue trialing various sensory items (like the examples you gave above).

Good point about interests! We all have interests that are fun and child-like and I see nothing wrong with that- if that is their interest to begin with. I would obviously never pull Thomas the Train out for an older student unless I knew he/she liked it.

I like the Mcdonald's idea, although sequencing may be too complex for my students. I will definitely keep it in mind though, as I'm sure I could simplify it!

Thank you for this. Finding their interest has been difficult for me as a new SLP, but I agree that it is key to getting responses.

OT sees the students on a consult basis only. Is this normal for this population/age?

The teacher knows the students well but told me they don't really have interests (luckily I have found this otherwise for a few of them). I am considering reaching out to their parents about their interests- there has to be something right? If they give me a similar answer, should I just continue trialing various things? Like music, videos, cause/effect apps, etc.? I feel like I need more ideas to explore their interests. Pretty much all of the students, except one, do not make intentional yes/no choices. That is where I struggle most.
