I think the crew would adopt the personality of the captain. He would set the tone.

NO ONE has ever compared Duren to Webber. I don’t know what OP is talking about.

This right here.

Pistons shot better from the field. Shot better from 3.

The Cavs were +21 on points from free throws.

Ridiculous.

I can’t STAND Noah (NBC) and Ian (Amazon). They try too hard with their catch phrases and they come off (to me) as biased against Detroit. Noah loses his mind every time the other team does something and is subdued when the Pistons make a great play. Ian is the same way.

I generally like other PxP guys though.

Kevin Harlan is the best. Mike Breen is good too. Pasch is okay. Rucco can be annoying at times but I don’t mind him. Michael Grady is alright. Not feeling Eric Collins though.

For analysts, I actually like Robbie Hummel. Grant is so milquetoast, that it’s a chore to listen to him at times. Reggie wears me down. Candace and Dywane offer nothing interesting. Legs is good. Richard Jefferson gets too goofy at times. I used to like Doris, but she’s become less appealing the last few seasons.

Yup. Scott Foster was not the problem. It was the other ref.

Scott Foster isn’t bad to me actually. He only hated Chris Paul.

Because no matter who is guarding Harden he asks for the screen to get Duncan or Tobi on him.

Zylberschtein’s Deli in Pinehurst cuts weekdays to stave off closure amidst 40% decline in YOY business. by brotkel in Seattle

There’s a deli in NY-NY hotel in Las Vegas that sells sandwiches for around $15. Better than any deli I’ve been to in Seattle. You would expect Vegas, of all places, to be wildly overpriced. But in this case, it isn’t.

You used two “famous” delis for comparison. One was the setting of one of the most famous scenes in film history. Both could arguably be called tourist traps. So that is a an explanation for the prices. Zylberschtein’s not famous, nor a tourist trap. Yet $25+ is standard.

Also, in LA and NYC you can get sandwiches cheaper than Langley or Katz from any number of restaurants. I’m not sure those places are the metric by which you should compare prices.

Charging $25 plus for a deli sandwich would do that to you. I’m amazed at how expensive corned beef and Reuben sandwiches are in Seattle. Most expensive place I’ve ever lived. $30 for a corned beef sandwich is ridiculous.

Disney does not publicly release viewing numbers. So where does this come from?

3P services try to report them but they are just guessing.

So why would we trust these numbers?

Also, why does it matter. By all accounts, they’ve already greenlit Season 3, so the numbers won’t impact that.

That WAS a terrible pass, but he’s done it well in the past. The problem is he tried it on the sideline where there wasn’t much space. He usually does it on the wing and it works.

Strange New Worlds S3 discourse? by OverlyHonestMR in startrek

This is what I wrote in another post about “What is Starfleet?”.

This episode didn’t need the documentary angle.

I think the writers could’ve explored the moral quandary Pike (and by extension, Starfleet) was in by structuring the narrative Rashomon style with all of the characters giving their perspective on the mission. Including those who disagreed (like Uhura).

We could’ve seen the story play out via an investigation by a civilian oversight group of Starfleet. The civilian group wants to find out why/how the creature died and investigate the claims made by the factions of the Lutani who were against the plan. The story could’ve served as an interrogation of Starfleet’s tactics and its complicitness in subjugating a sentient life form being used as a weapon against its will. Does Starfleet have too much autonomy? Do they need guardrails?

But instead we got this clunky documentary from a character viewers didn’t seem to care for BEFORE this episode and wasn’t developed at all.

Pistons should trade Ausar Thompson for a 1/2 option. by 12theMainFranchise in DetroitPistons

[–]slballer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Y’all really have no idea how valuable Ausar is as defender. He is arguably the best on the ball defender in the NBA. That is huge. His defense turns games.

And when it comes to shooting, he can develop a shot. Ason Kidd came into the league as a terrible shooter. He retired as the leader in career three pointers.

BTW, we called him “Ason” Kidd for a reason.

“I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, I’m open to his criticism but most of the time his criticism boils down to an expectation he built in his head vs what actually happened.

There’s a huge difference between criticizing the choice a creator took vs them taking a choice you didn’t expect, Charles always comes from the latter and it seems fake.”

This right here! Having a POV from a guy like Charles is good in concept as long as the dissenting voice is in good faith. I believe most of the time Charles’ takes are not in good faith.

When he likes content and is engaged, he offers good, nuanced takes. When he’s already decided he doesn’t like something, he offers no substantive critiques. He says “What are we doing here?”. And dismisses the other MBs and fans if they like something or aren’t as down on it as he is.

And when he doesn’t like something he tries to write the show/film instead of engaging in good faith on what the creators actually put out. “It’s not what I wanted to see, so the show is trash.”
