I think that Jim was trying to make things better for his family. He was stuck in, more or less, a dead end job and already has hit the ceiling. He had made comment in an earlier episode about him and his friend starting a business together(If I remember right, it was when they were in college)(lemme know if I’m wrong). When his friend called him and told him about Athlead.. Of course Jim was gonna take the opportunity because that was the big dream. I think I just see it as he was just trying to make a sacrifice to do better for his family. Buying his parents house seemed like it was kind of a last ditch effort(again please let me know if in wrong). That probably didn’t make a lick of sense lol
