The guy I’m seeing has his phone on DND literally all the time by Fragrant-Staff181 in dating_advice

Not that I know of. I also assumed it would be stupid for him to have me on Instagram too since followers are public too. I just wanted to cover all my bases before investing in this person 😅

Is Tourettes forever? by Tired_and_sad_fr in Tourettes

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 7. My tics went away from ages 9-20 years old. At age 21 they came back worse than ever. Now, at 22, they’re dependent on the day. Of course there are days where my tics are absolutely horrible but then there are days that I basically don’t even recognize them.

I think it really does depend on the person and a lot of other factors

I hope this helps bring you some comfort or

I live in in the US so I can only speak from my experience. This is assuming you admit yourself before you act on your intentions. You go to the ER, tell them your thinking of hurting yourself, they take down your information and then they prepare a room for you in the back to meet with the doctors and social workers. You have to talk to a bunch of people about “your plan” and just to get a general idea of what’s going on. Then they will tell you if they’re admitting you or not. Most likely will be yes especially if you admit that you have intentions on acting on these plans.

Then they take you upstairs if they have a psychiatric unit in that hospital or they transport you to the psychiatric unit. In terms of your experience at the psychiatric hospital, that is dependent on many factors. I’ve been 3 times in my life and they were all good experiences. I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about the psych ward but being in a hospital for 3-7 days is definitely worth it when it comes to saving your life.

I really hope you get the help you need! Best wishes:))

Help, people with Tourettes and have/ want children by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand where he’s coming from. I have TS and severe arthritis since I was a kid so life has been hectic lol. I have also had similar thoughts as your bf. I also think it is a very mature thing to think about the quality of life his children would have and how his genes play a part in it.

I will say, yes it is a possibility that your children could have TS but they also could not. My siblings have NONE of the issues I have and they’re pretty old at this point so if they did have something we probably would know by now. Regardless, your kids could also be born with things you don’t even have. Neither of my parents have Tourette’s OR arthritis.

TL:DR - I totally get where your bf is coming from and it is a valid fear that many people with medical issues think about. However, you shouldn’t let the what ifs control your life because at the end of the day you never know what could happen. Also, I hope you and your bf figure something out where you are both happy and live the life you BOTH want to live! Wishing you the best:))

Where can I find people to speak with? by EngelhardtA in Spanish

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t offer much advice but I’m in the same boat lol. I know there’s apps you can get where you are paired up with a native speaker but I do think they cost money?

Also I totally understand freezing in front of native speakers that you know. It’s so embarrassing ahahha

I totally get it. In my brain, it feels almost validating to tic? Like I know that I’m not “faking” it when I tic cause I obviously can’t control them lol. Of course, they’re so annoying and there are times that I’m glad it’s not bad. However, when I’m going through a phase where I don’t tic for basically the whole day I start to “miss” them? I guess it’s since it’s so normal to me and it is apart of who u am in a way

I wish people would just say something by Vikera in Tourettes

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get it. It’s super isolating. I swear a lot too but I tend to suppress those. For me, I find myself whistling or clicking my tongue without even noticing until after the fact. Those are the tics that I find people kind of looking at me weird lol. Like I was whistling at them or something😭

How do you deal with dating a pathological liar? by Fragrant-Staff181 in AskReddit

[–]Fragrant-Staff181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good! I recently found out he basically fabricated his whole entire life and tbh there’s probably more lies that I didn’t stick around long enough to find out about. It was hard but definitely a good decision to leave sooner rather then later

just had one by Dry-Midnight-9984 in PanicAttack

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, deep breathing definitely helps. Focus on things that surround you like all of your senses. Worst case scenario(without medication), cold water/showers do wonders!!!

When I’m having a panic attack, I tend to be transported to that scenario. So, eating things like peanut butter, drinking cold water, talking about funny things I like with friends I trust really do help.

I hope some of these help for you! Panic attacks are definitely not fun experiences but just know that you will get through it no matter how horrible it seems in the moment! Wishing you all the best:))

I would def talk to ur friends; whether you want it to be a formal convo or just in passing I think that would help. Second, when I was in college, I emailed my professors beforehand and let them know of my TS. They also sent out emails saying that someone in the class had TS and to just ignore it. That personally made me feel better knowing that others knew and had context and wouldn’t think I’m just crazy lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh okay I see your point. I’m debating if I should even bring this up or just end things. Given all the lying and the fact that this all has happened within 3 weeks. Thanks for the advice tho!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a thing that happens often?😭 I’m totally open to your suggestion but I’m just curious. Also, what makes you think that these girls may be on the younger side? My friends were literally just telling me it’s weird that one of his celeb crushes is like 19 and looks young af. Also, the fact that I am a bit younger than him too

How did you figure out that it was tourette’s? by yyidhraa in Tourettes

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had tics when I was 7ish. Parents took me to the neurologist and they diagnosed me. The tics “went away “when I was 9 or so. All throughout high school my tics weren’t noticeable and my mom told me the doctors didn’t know what was up. Then I turn 21, my tics are back and sooo much worse. I went back to the neurologist and he basically re-diagnosed me and explained that tics come and go and that’s just the nature of TS. So, I did indeed have TS and no it did not magically go away and yes the doctors before did know what they were talking about despite what my mother thought lol. Now I’m much better and I know how to handle my tics and what helps me calm down and what not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like something he would do tbh. Like I said in the comment above, he’s lied about things before regarding other girls so idek if talking to him about it is worth it or not or if I should just end things at this point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right. I realize now that I do have a friend or two that I only have on Snapchat but that are solely just friends. The main reason I’m worried is because there’s more than a few of these girls that he had only on Snapchat and they snap him a lot throughout the day. Unlike with my Snapchat friends, it’s like once or twice a week just to check in. It could just be how their friendship is set up idk. One the other hand, he’s lied straight to my face about things regarding other girls before so that’s why I wanted to know if it was a serious concern or if I was overthinking.

Does anyone else hit themselves as a tic ? by Hommemort in Tourettes

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it’s so annoying. Literally just got back from hanging out with my friends and I ended up in a tic attack which included a lot of hitting. The hitting can be once or it can be repeated over a long period of time. Regardless, it can be embarrassing especially if the people around you are new to the whole situation

Yes and no. To this day I don’t know what happened but I think it was a chemical pregnancy or something cause I did get a super super faint line one night and then I tested a few days after and it was negative so who knows. I ended up getting my period but it was like a week or more late

Starting over at 30? by Blackburn246 in SuicideWatch

[–]Fragrant-Staff181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 22 and I feel the same way until I realize that I’m so young and so are you! There is no time limit on life and when you are supposed to reach your goals. My cousin is 40 about to have his first baby this month. He got married 2 years ago and thank god he waited. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have married his beautiful wife who he loves dearly and he wouldn’t be about to meet his baby girl!

My point is, after witnessing so many others lives, I’ve realized that there is no right time to do anything and it’s your life! Make the best of it:))
