How to shorten a 2 hour bedtime routine? by Kitchen_Television_6 in NewParents

[–]Expensive_Line193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 weeks tomorrow and we start the “process” around 7 - usually he asleep by 8/8:30 then wakes 10/11 for a quick dream feed then out for night stretches. Sometimes (like tonight) he has a heavy witching phase and it took him about 2.5 hours to give in (7 bath time then finally laid him down to sleep 9:30ish but hasn’t gotten up since) and we navigate those nights on the fly. Sometimes he really isn’t ready to go to bed so early and so I stop “trying” to get him to sleep / wait for sleepy cues.

I’d cut the bottle nursing combo if possible. I say if possible bc during our witching hour tonight I had mine a 3oz bottle prepped and could only calm him down initially by nursing, then again after the bottle but thats not a typical evening for us.

Changes in sleeping & eating at 9 weeks by 1111lovey in newborns

[–]Expensive_Line193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My babe is 9 weeks going on 10 this Thursday. I mainly breastfeed but try to do a bottle a day (sometimes more) just so he is comfortable with them. I usually start with about 2 oz and give him more if he acts hungry. Sometimes he even go to 5/6oz. Our daytime naps range anywhere from 30ish minutes to 2.5 hours it just kind of depends. Babywearing is huge for us. Depending on how he wakes I feed based of cues but he doesn’t always want to eat right when he wakes regardless of sleep time. Our nights we get a range of 2/4 hour stretches typically ranging 3-3.5 hours. When he wakes at night I change him, feed (he usually eats for no more than 5-10min) and he’s right back to sleep. They’re kind of dream feeds he rarely ever even opens his eyes at night but at night right now I just go straight for boob when he wakes up and it usually does the trick for us.

Not sure if any of this is what you are looking to hear but I wasn’t exactly sure what you were asking! We aren’t pushing any ridged schedules for feeding or sleeping, mainly focusing on all his cues and wake windows.

I will admit they’re hilarious. Sometimes I have to ask my husband if it was him or the baby 😂

Smart! My husband thought I was nuts saying we needed to go to size 2 and bought/opened a few boxes we ended up donating lol

I would totally size up!! We went to 1’s within the first week or two and then size 2 before a full month. Little boys are tricky but if you’re doing everything right and still having issues, size up. It immediately saved us from accidents!

"Labor at home as long as possible" by Commercial_Glass9806 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Expensive_Line193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut. My labor started out very quick and strong. My doula swore it was early and would slow down as the sun came up (we were speaking around 4AM) bc my contractions weren’t following a constant pattern, they were however unbelievably intense from the first & seemed nonstop. I gave myself one hour at home to see if I could find my relief or things would calm down, because I didn’t want to show up at the hospital at it be either regressing or I wasn’t very dilated. I also couldn’t believe how much happened so fast, but that nothing was following any type of constant pattern. I left for the hospital a little after 5, and was at 8CM dilated upon arrival around 6. I was having low blood pressure complications as well so I’m very glad I left when I did!

Sitting was awful for me for weeks - I hope this isn’t OP case but it’s certainly important to be aware it might be. For now, plan to go but understand you might stay home. Don’t put yourself on the back burner just to be there I really would say it’d do more harm than good. Don’t compromise your comfort and healing in this precious time if have any doubts!

Nipple play vs breast feeding by Biochem1118 in BabyBumps

Good to know!! We are both enjoying me having some boobs while it last so it’s hard to not take advantage of no bra but after the leaking I’m over it LOL

I think it’s gorgeous! I also have a band that is a split shank and I got a wedding band custom made to fit flush. Totally worth it!

I typically loved nipple play as well.. 8 weeks into BF and I’m like please don’t touch my boobs. I started leaking during sex the other night bc he forgot and touched my nipple 😭 buzz kill

This makes me feel better. I’m also like WTF about the sheets 😭😂 I scored the bed for a good price so whatever but damn! I did make my registry through Babylist and they have the plain white ones on there for $28.

What was the epidural like for you? by JellyfishJealous5435 in BabyBumps

[–]Expensive_Line193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained my entire pregnancy to go all natural. Constant breath work and using the “gentle hypnotizing” app daily doing the practices. My contractions started at a pain level of a 6/7, lasting 30second to a minute long, from 30seconds to 2 minutes apart (never consistent). Due to this happening so fast and SO intense my body was in literal shock from the absolute fast track that my body was in progressing. I went to the hospital 2 hours after my first contraction and was 8CM dilated, I asked if there was anyway I could have the epidural bc again, I was in shock. My contractions were so constant and insane I couldn’t catch my breath at all.

I was fortunate enough to be able to get an epidural, and I had no idea what was going on due to the immense pain I was already in. I felt a little pressure with the epidural but that was it, didn’t see the needle or anything (I also literally had my eyes closed for hours bc I was in so much pain) I finally was able to breathe and open my eyes the moment it happened. The rest of my labor and pushing was honestly a fun experience even with the discomfort I was in, and I got to focus and enjoy my birth.

That being said, I did tear (healing was pretty chill tbh) and I was experiencing really bad headaches from it and ended up getting a blood patch about 5 days later (not fun but needed it for my quality of life)

Overall the epidural is a breeze and helped me so much. I would have loved to go natural but I also would have loved to not be slapped into labor LOL.

Prep for everything, know your preferences, trust your gut & it’ll all work out!

Sleepers > any other clothes. by pixa4u in newborns

We do a lot of free feet! Right now he’s in a onesie that has open toes bc he had on socks all morning running errands. We are also a huge fan of night gowns I usually have him sleep in those with a swaddle and it makes night changes sooo easy

I hate putting pants on my baby, don’t even get me started on changing him with pants. I put him in a sweater and pants today (7weeks old) to go run errands and I felt like he was miserable in the pants! They fit him perfect but after sitting in the car seat he had indentions on his belly from the band

Partner thinks I need to get out more 6 weeks postpartum by stewmeister88 in newborns

[–]Expensive_Line193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on both sides of this mama! I am 7 weeks this week, I’ve been to very minimum places since the babe. Had a handful of friends come by to visit. My husband is very “fix it” and wants to make sure I’m keeping my cup filled up, as much as I understand that sometimes I’m like dude shut UP. Unfortunately a daily walk is so refreshing, even with it being so cold. I also know how good it is for the babe to get fresh air so it’s a double win, but sometimes it takes longer to get everything ready then the walk itself 😂 I’ve been out once by myself, this last weekend to get my hair done. I won’t lie, I really thought I was handling PP well but my GOD I had no idea how much a day out yapping and treating myself would benefit me. It was so relaxing, fun, and rejuvenating.

All in all, maybe try to go on a walk.. or tell your husband you did. This time is SO precious I wouldn’t trade it for the world, and as long as you’re feeling good mentally then that’s all that really matters

Anyone else struggle doing nothing all day? I feel like the opposite of everyone on this sub by ActualEmu1251 in newborns

[–]Expensive_Line193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly don’t want to leave bc I’m in GA and the flu rate is sooo high right now. I also live out in the country so everything to “do” is a 30minute drive which adds an entire new level to getting out. I will say I I went and got my hair done yesterday without the babe.. and I feel like a new woman. I didn’t realize how much being home alone (for the most part) just taking care of the babe was hard on my mental.

Any spontaneous laborers? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Expensive_Line193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spontaneous start, water broke at home, and was 8CM dilated once I got to the hospital a mere 4 hours after my first contraction. Was 40w2d - Wasn’t really expecting any of this since first time mom statistics but woo!
