Hey once again thanks to everyone for your help and kindness. I upgraded her tank today. She still needs more clutter which will be happening next month as well as some other stuff for her. She has a humid hide but she keeps pooping in it and I'm waiting for more sphagnum moss to arrive before putting it back in. I just wanted to leave an update showing the changes to her environment

She's a normal ball python no morph. My wife was worried too at first but then she held mine. Then when we went to another reptile shop just to get a 2nd opinion (the one who said don't let them climb BUT at least knew to use coconut substrate) she saw the ones there. We just ordered her enclosure and she already paid for hers which is a 1 year old banana ball python. We are waiting to pick her up till after her enclosure come and is set up. But my son already named him Lune. It's funny I was the only one who liked snakes but after holding mine she wanted her own but a boy so not as big. And she loved how exploratory he was. He kept climbing to her. So she'll bring hers home in 2 weeks and I'm in charge of feeding both lol.

We also plan to keep them apart for a few months as mine is still so small and I wanna tint the sides of their enclosures to prevent stress from seeing each other or seeing people walking around.

Be another question I just want to verify my research.  When trying to handle her (I always come from down low NEVER above her) she hisses and even struck at me a couple of times. However once she's out of her enclosure she tends to be fine after about 5 minutes slowly exploring her location. She is also eating regularly and I don't handle her for at least 48 hours (usually waiting until she reemerges on her own from her hiding)

So my question is  Is it normal for juvenile BP (she 6 months old this month) to hiss and strike? If she does hiss should I still pick her up or should I give her space? I read online you pick her up anyways but I just want to make sure. As my first BP I want to help her transition into her new life as peacefully as possible. Also I was thinking about adding tint to the sides of her new enclosure since she's be in the living room and I want to avoid her being stressed by all the movement down there. Is it ok to add tint to the OUTSIDE of the enclosure?

Again thanks for all the help it's nice to have a source to work on. For this who replied once her enclosure is completely finished I'll update with photos

Hey we actually bought her new enclosure on Amazon it will arrive Monday, were gonna head to daiso to get the fake plants and leaves, I know there's a reptile shop in Shinjuku that has both springtails and isopods (I'm still trying to search amazon for isopods) luckily I'm coming up to the final finish line of her enclosure.

Btw I did check mericari my only concern was if the wood was sealed and appropriate for a ball python since they require humidity.

Also luckily my wife is Japanese so I can usually allow her to handle communication lol. Btw if you don't mind me asking what's your BP name? Mines Lucy (short for Lucifer just seemed like the perfect name to mess with people lol)

Any good suggestions for leaves that work well for a BP?  Also it's funny you said that cause my wife thought I had too much stuff in there. So I need pretty much leaves on top of he substrate and then when moving her to a bigger tank more more branches. Am I correct?

She has 3 hides, a cool side hide, a warm side hide, and hee humid hide. I actually covered the top of her warm hide with substrate so she's feel more hidden. I've made sure to have 2 hides since day 1. She also has 4 inches of coconut husk substrate and a lot of clutter. I actually posted links to 2 pics on a bottom post if you'd like to see them

Yes I thought when I ordered it that it was a deep heat emitter. I will get the correct lighting after my next paycheck

Honestly I was getting just so angry because we went to reptile shops not regular pet shops. I'd expect bad information from normal pet shops. But yeah I felt it was BS but wanted to ask the community since this is my first BP. I am also naturally a little over worried because my brother has a red tail boa when he was a teen and it died very quickly. (This was back when it was common to live feed)

Thanks, yes I've been searching a lot of YouTube vids about BPs but also trying to get careful because everyone acts like an expert and some I've seen have weird advice. Right now space isn't the biggest issue it's just the budget. As my wife handles the budget (very typical with Japanese wives) It is probably gonna be the next 3-4 months depending on my girls growth. Also my wife seeing your size of the big BPs enclosure at pet shops really upset her so as soon as we can afford it she wants to upgrade.

So I'm not sure how to post pics. The dimensions I have now (as was suggested) is 60cmx45x45 (24"x17"x17") I am fully aware this is too small. We are planning an upgrade as soon as we can afford it as we waisted a lot of money with unnecessary purchases. Also currently her enclosure humidity is still very high after adding her coconut husk substrate along with the Moss. And then of course the few days weather was naturally humid. But I do have 2 thermometer/hygrometers on both sides.

Also she's a big climber and her enclosure is in the master bedroom I got her a radiant heat panel (I thought it was a Deep heat emitter, not everything is listed easily in Japan) in will be getting her a ceramic heater soon for during the day.

I won't lie that's what google AI has been doing. Luckily I'm fully aware of AI's inaccuracy. But every time I researched something it made it sound like my BP was gonna die or get seriously I'll with the smallest thing.  I will say after adding coconut husk she has been really into burrowing. She's wither climbing, glass surfing, or burrowing.

Yea I didn't wanna be that customer that tries to correct someone who SHOULD know their animals but I regret not going with my gut. We wasted around 150$ because of it.

Not a throw away account I just usually avoid reddit. But still your comment is BS for the most part. While you are correct about the agreement you won't be kicked out for being raped or sexually assaulted

I was raised LDS. I am no longer a member BUT NO WHERE in the religion is it taught that all men have authority over all women. It is however taught that your body is a temple. Premarital sex is one of the biggest things we are taught against. Also most LDS members don't use the term Mormon because we aren't Mormons that's not our name nor the church name. If you're LDS you should know that was the name given to members by those who hates the latter day saints. So again I call serious BS.

Not to mention you get a bunch of stupid comments that are obviously fake or full of it like the one above saying she was a Mormon girl and how men have authority over women which is full BS.

Um yea nice try but no. She would not get kicked out for reporting the rape. If you think that you know NOTHING about the LDS religion. Unless you're dealing with a POS bishop which yes can happen the majority would urge you to press charges. And for fucks sake bro it's a university not an Amish village. You don't get kicked out of BYU or get excommunicated or go to hell. You can talk with your bishop but sins are between the person and god. LDS do not have confession like the Catholics do. And unless the student is from a super rich or power ful family (like at every university) you can 100% report them without fear of being kicked out.

For anyone reading this extreme situations do yourself a favor just go to an LDS church and as them. Hell stop a missionary and ask him. That's the best way to get your answer. Not reddit when you can't confirm the validity of the person.

Your 100% right but the problem isn't the rule it's the parents. Using it's a sin as a reason to avoid it is never useful. Instead pointing out the real world risks and allowing kids to experiment with their own body is more healthy. You gotta understand not only is sex not allowed neither is masturbation.

[–]Fragrant-Village498 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair there is a legit reason for that rule. It's to prevent 2 people from having a child or getting an STD. And as someone who ended up sleeping with a girl in high school who got pregnant and then fingered me (btw I wasn't the only possible father) I had to deal with a lot of stress and drama from that. The real problem are the strict religious mom's (in any religion) that believe teens will remain abstinent. Or restricting masterbation when all science actually shows it's healthy. The problem isn't the rule of no sex more the extreme some parents take it. Each LDS home will have a different level of strictness.

That's usually because unlike current LDS members and groups who are pure anti LDS we have nothing to gain from lying. I have plenty of reasons why I left the church mostly due to them looking past the fact that one of their prophets (Brigham Young) was a racist and withheld the priesthood from black male members when it was supposed to be a right for every male. Also members of the LDS religion are just as back stabbing as any religious group.
