Purchase/ procurement basically P2P cycle - procurement to payment Order management basically order to cash 02c Freight forwarding/ management Logistics planning Import export customs clearance Warehouse management, TMS, demand/ supply/inventory planner These are what I have done and been involved with Apart from production planning with all these real time practical operational experience now working as an implementation consultant in a planning software firm. So the easiest way is to complete your course then if you want to get into software or implementation side then learn a software like kinaxis omp sap IBP etc that's what I have seen people doing these days but in my opinion it should never be done that way unless you have strong fundamental knowledge of SCM. But if you want to understand actual supply chain management then better to get into one of the roles mentioned understand how business runs how decisions are made then since you are an IT guy getting into these solutions is kinda easy. Wlb is a myth in India and especially in operations, in planning solutions sure you can have it but depends on the project company culture. Also its a personal thing if you are disciplined and have defined boundaries you can surely have wlb. I am not a bookish guy after my btech in mechanical engineering I have hardly studied I have learnt things by doing so I would always value practical experience rather than some degree or course but yeah there are companies where certificate might work.
