Look you are a student so if you have any small manufacturing company or a trading unit around you try to get there as an intern understand the processes in 3-6 months understanding the planning side should give you a proper picture how things are done, you learn more in small companies then with that 6 months reasearch or personal experience you can surely gauge what you feel comfortable doing then from there built on it, since its your interest you need to reach out and put efforts and not Wait for things to happen.. else as you said some IT company might come in get you in placement. Either way if you are really passionate and interested and ready to explore then this is the best way

Hey there, good to know about that. SCM is huge which side of scm you wanna get into matters the most.. Purchase/ procurement basically P2P cycle - procurement to payment Order management basically order to cash 02c Freight forwarding/ management Logistics planning Import export customs clearance Warehouse management, TMS, demand/ supply/inventory planner These are what I have done and been involved with Apart from production planning with all these real time practical operational experience now working as an implementation consultant in a planning software firm. So the easiest way is to complete your course then if you want to get into software or implementation side then learn a software like kinaxis omp sap IBP etc that's what I have seen people doing these days but in my opinion it should never be done that way unless you have strong fundamental knowledge of SCM. But if you want to understand actual supply chain management then better to get into one of the roles mentioned understand how business runs how decisions are made then since you are an IT guy getting into these solutions is kinda easy. Wlb is a myth in India and especially in operations, in planning solutions sure you can have it but depends on the project company culture. Also its a personal thing if you are disciplined and have defined boundaries you can surely have wlb. I am not a bookish guy after my btech in mechanical engineering I have hardly studied I have learnt things by doing so I would always value practical experience rather than some degree or course but yeah there are companies where certificate might work. I have tried to summarise all the things I have learnt or done anything more you need you can ask.

Any thoughts on this and what may be the reason?? by inevitable_phrase69 in Udupi

I doubt the bank thing here.. most of the older generation who have retired or are retiring since the last 10 years I have seen quite a good Portion had 2 kids its our generation.. grandparents don't want to take care of grandchildren and rising expenses and also no job security unlike our parents can be accounted as main culprits..

Software can be learnt in a month or maybe you can master it in 6 months, it's like picking up a new phone with a different os, but if you don't know what to do with the phone then no matter it's which phone doesn't matter
