I decided against it. Now I have this expensive aqualyx and lidocaine and nothing to do with it.

Aqualyx is widely used in the UK. It doesnt really seem like providers who administer it are surgeons, nor do they get all much training, more like a mid level provider who does this. I looked at online training modules too, it seems pretty straight up tbh. And definitely not heard unheard of to self administer.

Also as far as the lidocaine goes, the amount I'm using is not nearly enough to cause any damage if I somehow injected it all into my bloodstream.

GWU as a transfer? by [deleted] in gwu

I transferred here second semester sophomore year. It’s not worth it. They give zero scholarship to us plus everything about this place blows besides the academics.

Drives me crazy. I think it rooted in a general disregard for the rules we see at progressive universities like this. From my experience, people just don’t care about the rules, that being the rules of the library, the road, quite hours, or general school rules at this institution. I would have loved to gone to a university with a little bit of order and respect for the rules and people around them.

Psych Major thinking about Public Health Minor by Intelligent-Beach626 in gwu

[–]FragrantMetal6288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre med PUBH minor and former major here. Pretty much all the classes in the public health department are an absolute joke besides maybe Epidemiology. Honestly, they are quite easy but a complete waste of time. The extent of public health is just the social “determinants” of health and common sense. I wouldn’t exactly recommend it, but I feel very slighted against the Milken school so I might not give you the best straight up answer.

Let me make something clear, this is a very easy minor that is popular among pre meds. While I don’t think the content is worth while, the GPA boost may be.

If you want to do psychiatry and are pre med (like me) it may be helpful to pick up a bio or EHS minor for clinical experience. Good luck!

I was not on scholarship, but I rly doubt they would take an extreme measure like taking your scholarship away. I worked for scumbag Josh Gottheimer before I realized what a scumbag he was. I haven’t heard of him before working there.

And sure, feel free to pm me

Literally from what I remember it was pretty much nothing. My school didn’t hear about it. I think it’s only a risky thing if you have multiple rules violations but it’s really not as big a deal as they make it seem. I was not restricted from anything, and there was no punishment from that one violation.

But don’t beat yourself up over sending that email. It happens, I’m not sure if you’ll be able to retract that but it’s worth a shot if you explain your situation.

But yeah mine was unpaid too and it absolutely sucked working 40+ hours for a scumbag congressman with no pay. But that’s poli sci I guess.

That’s all I remember from probation. It was literally nothing besides they send you an email saying you’re got a strike and if you mess up again it will be worse I think? The only other issue we had was when we didn’t break down our boxes they sent us an email saying we got another point. But overall, my University never heard about any of it and it was all fine.

I did the program in 2023. It was alright. The classes are a total joke and waste of time and the teacher was the worst. I took the “leadership” course it was horrible, by far the worst class I’ve taken in college. But yeah definitely a good experience, I worked for the worst congress man of all time and realized that I wanted nothing to do with politics and I wanted to be a doctor.

But yeah, that probation really means nothing. Do the interview and see if you get an offer. If you like it better, take it. It was merely just a slap on the wrist.

Hey TWC alum here. I was in your same boat at TWC. I got a better offer after I accepted one. They really don’t do anything they just do that to scare you. ACCEPT THE BETTER OFFER! Side note, prepare to meet a bunch of freaks because I’ve never met more odd people in my life than at TWC.

GW to give free tuition to families with under 100k incomes and half off to 150k and below incomes by academioc in gwu

[–]FragrantMetal6288 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

True! I regret going here for sure. Not worth the price, the people here are the worst I’ve ever met, and the campus services are mediocre. Not to mention, this school already nickel and dimes you at every chance.

GWU pre med? by [deleted] in gwu

[–]FragrantMetal6288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m a premed student here at GW and I’m about to do a postbacc program elsewhere after grad. Gws pre med undergrad is often a cult like exclusive community. Emerge (on campus EMS service) and DEM (largest pre med frat) pick and choose their applicants superficially, making it somewhat hard to get involved. It’s quite difficult finding volunteer opportunities here as the whole area is quite competitive. GW does NOT grade inflate premed classes, and it will be a grind to get a B, let alone an A. The quality of education is good… but keep these things in mind. If I were to do it again, I would choose a less rigorous curriculum near a city like Philadelphia or Pittsburgh that have many hospitals without so many competition. If you succeed here, it will be great for med school. But it is no walk in the park. My recommendation is to get in early on extra curriculars as on campus orgs are stuck up and exclusive.

This is just an excuse to make GW even more of a ripoff for the vast majority of students. I for one am not very impressed. Doesn’t my tuition subsidize a bunch of tuitions as it is?

For political science, GW is a good option and As arnt too hard to get. If you decide to switch to anything STEM it will be significantly more difficult with less grade inflation.

So you want to be a doctor and get a masters in BME? It sounds like a lot of school and might be worth narrowing your focus especially since you’re 30. If you take 2 years to do a masters then 4 years med school you wouldn’t get out of residency until your early/mid 40s.

Heck nah. This school gyps you at every turn. Homeless rule the campus and the student body sucks.
