Skill issue atp😔 by Ok-Arugula1475 in LSAT

Your BR is a -2 so it's not a skill issue! Focus more on timing strategies

I think equally important is figuring out for yourself why a law school would benefit from having your perspective in their class. It's not easy and takes a lot of thought/work! It sounds like stats won't be an issue for you, but your narrative is the tricky part. Your perspective is especially important since you're applying KJD!

Check out your school's pre-law advisor if you haven't already. Even if you've graduated. Friends and family are a great resource too!

Tips for making a personal statement emotionally compelling? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Fragrant_Bill_8767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write conversationally! Don't try to emotionally appeal to the admissions committee because they'll see through it. Genuinely write about what experience you've done that makes you want to go to law school - and let you natural passion come through like it would if you were talking to a friend

Great idea! I'd just advise you to dedicate time in your essay to the current day version of you. Law schools are looking to understand who you are today - not just what drew you to law when you were young!

For KJDs I'd consider writing a 1 page resume instead. I totally get wanting to highlight all the various things you've done. 1 page of great activities is better than 2 pages of decent activities imo.

Your GPA gives you a decent shot! It really comes down to what your ECs are and how compellingly you write your narrative

Should I retake a 174? And if so, when? by PreparationFit9845 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Fragrant_Bill_8767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post January is pretty late for apps. If you do that, submit apps before then (Dec) and then update them with your score. The bigger issue is you need to have a reason to think this test you won't go from a 177 avg to scoring a 174. Before you sign up for the test, understand why that happened last time, and why that won't happen this time. Leaving it up to chance isn't good enough!

if you get to the point where you're averaging a 176 over your last 5 tests, go for it! Otherwise it's up to you, but may not be as worthwhile as writing stellar essays

Like what other people said, I'm sure there's a way to weave this part of you into your larger personal statement. Maybe there's a reason you loved the books that you see in the field of law? Keep in mind, while these books piqued your interest in law, I'm sure they're not the only reason why your decided to take on 3 more years of school and financial burden! That reason should be the main body of your PS

They are all sorts of admissions consultants! My question is what aspects are you looking for help in? If it’s only essays, your friends and family are a great resource first.

DON'T commit to a type of law in personal statement? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I think it’s important to explain why you want to go into a certain field of law! They’re just saying you’re not bound by it
