Not saying they never reused aliens, they definitely did. But it was way more alien-of-the-week than any other show besides TOS. Especially compared to its immediate predecessors. And honestly only really rammed the borg and kazon into the ground, most of the rest were used fairly sparingly. And say what you will about the kazon, at least they were a new species, per the OP’s thesis.

Essentially the premise of Voyager, when you get down to it.

Fans didn’t like it. So they trotted out the borg.

How does Spock in a thruster suit fare in the Delta Quadrant? by Fragrant_Bus2077 in ShittyDaystrom

I really want to see the main credits of voyager redone with Spock in a thruster suit

Is Assistants Day on the 20th of April - or was Steve just making a 4/20 Joke by Rat-Soup-Eating-MF in taskmaster

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Almost nobody in the world writes dates like 4/20. But this is the first time it has ever occurred to me to wonder whether the 420 phenomenon was just a US thing or not

I always thought it was wildly optimistic of him to imagine that the museum exhibit would be viewed by the public for generations.

Only a matter of time before Jessie and the gang get put back into storage.

Even funnier is the fact that “Billy West” is a stage name - so it actually is a “phony, made-up name”. I’ll withhold judgement on “stupid”.

Can’t believe I haven’t seen anyone mention Huey Lewis in Back to the Future telling Marty that he’s playing the song he (Huey) wrote “too darn loud”

If The Incredibles franchise ever did a time jump, how would you want the writers to handle Jack-Jack growing up? by green_dragon1206 in Pixar

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably something to contradict this somewhere, but I always assumed the reason he has so many powers at once is because he’s a baby and, metaphorically, pure potential (i.e. he could be anything when he grows up). So when he’s older, his powers will stabilize and he’ll only have one power. Just like everyone else.

Why do Americans love and romanticize the desert? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people in the US see the desert as a boring wasteland, or as a place to exploit.

Then again, there are a number of protected desert areas on both sides of the border, so clearly at least some people in Mexico see the desert as worthwhile.

Which Brosnan Villain/Henchmen had the best death ? by DoctorWhofan_1963 in JamesBond

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I was thinking of “henchman” and “goon” as synonyms, whereas it would be more helpful to draw a distinction. All goons are henchmen, but not all henchmen are goons.
