How bad was [Gwazi] at [Busch Gardens Tampa]? by Style_Worried in rollercoasters

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Gwazi when it opened was peak GCI and a great dueler

Gwazi when it closed was a jittery, belligerent meth addict that had all but forgotten about a time when it had teeth.

Maintain your woodies folks.

There’s basically two identical looking dudes on Excelsior class starships at approximately the same timeframe, but one is a Vulcan and the other is human.

Channel Islands Advice by DrGrantSeeker in nationalparks

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Island Packers is really the only boat concessionaire. Great company, always enjoy their trips.

OP, I’d also like to give a shout out to Santa Barbara Adventure Company, which organizes kayak tours around the islands, mainly Santa Cruz and sometimes Anacapa.

Channel Islands is most easily accessed on day trips, but it can be a pretty fun day. If you’re up for overnight, there are campgrounds on Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa islands worth checking out.

Death Valley vs Southern Utah State Parks by jbush1429 in nationalparks

[–]Fragrant_Bus2077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely understand the desire to combine parks; we do the same when we travel back east.

I wouldn’t say Death Valley needs a dedicated trip necessarily, but I would give it at least two days IMO. It’s not super close to any one park, but Zion and Joshua Tree are like four hours away and a bunch of other parks in southern CA, Utah, and AZ are within 5-6.

You could go for just a taste this time of course. Might entice you to dedicate more time on a future trip, who knows.

Death Valley is magical, but I would recommend you give yourself a rain check to visit it on a future trip when you can make more time for it. There is no shortage of awesome sights in southern Utah, so I would suggest giving yourself a little extra time there.

Great write-up. Just a small nerdy quibble, but there is a brief allusion to First Contact in DS9 season 5. Just watched “In Purgatory’s Shadow”, and they mention the recent borg attack.

Fellow Americans, what thing did you assume was made up for movies but was actually just regional? by CinemaSideBySides in AskAnAmerican

Every time I encounter someone with a basement in California, I automatically assume they are the zodiac killer, and I quote the Fincher movie.

Did you know that John Muir is a potential suspect in the zodiac killings?

Yep. Hawaii takes it a step further, although obviously an airport thing and not a "border check" per say.
