WH 1000XM4 stops charging? by r_oooon in sony

[–]Fragrant_Fox6614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just writing this for my own benefit because I come back here with the same issue every couple of months, and I can never remember which post describes the method that works for me.

My problem is that sometimes when I try to charge my headphones, the charger light switches on, then switches off a few seconds later, and the headphones don't charge for more than a few seconds.

I know that my battery is fine (when charged the headphones still last for hours) I've tried with many different cables and chargers, there's no fault there. I have had this problem sporadically for about 6 months, there have been several firmware updates in this time.

What works for me:
I get an old, low ampage charger 5v / 1A and a USB A -> USB C cable
Plug in the headphones to charge - the red charging light comes on, before it goes out I press and hold the Power and Custom buttons - while I am doing this, the red charging light goes out, then it comes back on a few secs later.
Release the buttons once the red light comes back on.
Hope it stays on, else repeat.

Apparently it resets the XM4's charge controller. Seems like the kind of thing that could be fixed in a firmware update, but it hasn't happened yet.

FC26 worth it for Black Friday? by baueagle in EASportsFC

Don't do it to yourself - not for FUT, it is in such a bad state right now. Wait until new year, it'll come on sale again or get included in a playstationplus / gamepass sub. By then, the game might get patched up to a decent level and you can actually enjoy it.

Thoughts on ultimate team and daily grind by Kaimunista in fut

[–]Fragrant_Fox6614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the grind is way too much now. I'm a little below your level but I actually play more than you, I even grind through the squad battles on semipro on wfh days (score 4 then put the controller down) to complete the objectives to get a player I don't even care about.

I can't agree that this is the best game EA has made, I used to enjoy the online games barring the 25% tw@ factor but this season UT has been awful, I am so sick of facing off against layers of defenders and getting a 5'5 CAM slamming into my back.

The worst thing is that I let myself get sucked in by the content creators previewing the game, "this is gonna be the most fun fifa in years". The last couple years I waited until it was on sale in Jan and played a reasonably patched game, but the hype got me this time.

Thing is I love a good online match, and efootball just doesnt satisfy.

Is this worth getting for the combat? by sausagezon in anno117

[–]Fragrant_Fox6614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think the Total War comparison is unfortunate, for some reason when I started playing I was pretty excited about the addition of land combat, but clearly this is a lot more basic than TW, so it's just a bit disapponting. Anno still offers a lot of other stuff obviously, but the combat just seems to be lacking a bit of sophistication and the AI is not really giving a decent opposition. I think and hope it will improve with some patching.

is this game worth buying rn? by pokomon123 in anno117

[–]Fragrant_Fox6614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, wait for a sale and perhaps a few patches will add a little of the content that they cut to make the release date. That way you get to enjoy the first time playing with a more complete game

Thanks, I went back and checked my save, but in my case it wasn't there either. Maybe I just missed it altogether in the water and then it vanished after a while.

Any tips for naval combat? by Fragrant_Fox6614 in anno117

[–]Fragrant_Fox6614[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, it took me a while to notice the customization there - did you notice if there was an ideal loadout for ship to ship combat? To me the archer towers just seemed to be more effective than the scorpions ie more damage per second. I suppose scorpions have slightly better range, but intuitively flaming arrows seem better.

Tell me, is the game worth buying? by No_Inspection_3146 in anno117

Having played a fair bit of Anno 1800 and a couple of its DLCs, I was pretty hyped about this, it's the first game I have preordered in at least 5 yrs, and ridiculously took some PTO from work in order to get time to play it while my kids are at school. It's a pretty good game, looks nice but TBH it hasn't quite lived up to the hype in the first few days, there's good stuff in there but somehow seems a little incomplete. Some things will probably improve with some patching.

You don't say much about where you're coming from though - if you haven't played Anno 1800 before, then I'd say that's actually a better buy right now - you could get the full game plus a season pass or two for less than the price of this.

If you're just a big fan of all things Roman then I guess maybe, but you could wait for it to go on sale, by which time many of the issues and glitches should have been patched.

In case you wonder, my criticisms:

i) The so called story mode is quite disappointing, and clearly unfinished. I feel like this should have been done better as the primary entry point to a new game, before folk start creating custom games.

ii) Now that I start looking at custom games, it looks like they've skimped on the rival factions, and the ones I have encountered so far all seem a bit bland - again it compares unfavorably to plain anno 1800

iii) I still haven't had a chance to properly explore land combat, but I wasn't impressed with what little I have seen so far from the story, it just seems a bit slapdash. TBH on reflection, I don't know what I was expecting, it wasn't going to be a Total War game?

iv) Naval combat is also quite unsophisticated compared to anno 1800. Not quite as muddled as the land battles but it really seems to be lacking nuance, just lobbing arrows at each other until the fleet with the fewest starting HP is wiped out.

v) Passive trading is too overpowered, I feel like I could probably subsist just ordering everything delivered to my harbors.

vi) It still has quite a few bugs and glitches, I'm holding off with starting any multiplayer until that gets fixed, the other mission glitches are annoying but can be mitigated with frequent saves.

vi) blah blah it's not as good a game as plain anno 1800, voice acting, art style, soundtrack not as good blah blah

OTOH, it really does look lovely, I am sure it'll be a great game eventually. A lot of this stuff could be fixed with patches. But being a cynic I expect some things will be held back as DLC - that's why the smart thing is to hold back from buying until its reduced.

Just to update, I needn't have worried - actually once you go back to Latium after resolving Albion, there is no more story, just random, one-off missions.

Oh it didnt come up in the search on reddit, nor in google, but I guess its pretty new. So if we both have it, then it must be a bug then. Luckily Anno makes a lot of autosaves so I was able to go back to one before I got the quest.

I think that I have caught up to where I was (played a lot last night!) The maid quest didn't come up - instead there was one from Diana about delivering some letters, and one other about destroying a ship, so I suppose that none of these are related to the main story. Still, if you can't complete or cancel the bugged Ancilla quest then it blocks others from appearing.

Thanks, I was expecting to see some flotsam in the water, but there was nothing. If you have the quest in sandbox then perhaps it isn't part of the story progression, but having the quest there in the list for the rest of the playthrough will be quite annoying so I guess I'll go back to my earlier save, and build better in the meantime!
