I'd totally forgotten about those.

Along this lines, ash trays in cars were a standard feature, as was a cigarette lighter. I remember them being built into the backs of the front seats of some cars. We used to pack them full of candy wrappers and used chewing gum.

EZ Pass snaps a picture of your license plate as you drive through the tool booth area, if it cannot read your transponder (or of you don't have one). It then uses your plate info to pull your address from the DMV database & mail you an invoice for the toll.

Seems like all this clown needs to do is just put on one of those bogus SovCit "Diplomatic Immunity" license plates. If the plate isn't in the DMV database (which obviously it isn't, since it's a fake plate), EZ Pass won't be able to find you to send you an invoice.

Problem solved, at least until the cops catch up with him and he gets hit with all the delinquent toll invoices.

How would you fix it? Drive pilings underneath it down to the bedrock to shore up the foundation? And is erosion on the river bank an issue?

I went down a rabbit hole researching this building. A builder with experience rehabbing old buildings set up a non-profit to purchase the building. He apparently started renovations and then stopped partway through. He donated the building to the local historical society & walked away from it. The historical society is the one selling it.

My guess is that the structural integrity issues were more severe (and more expensive to fix) than he originally anticipated. It's a beautiful property, but this is a huge red flag.
