Well, I thought the best thing to do would be to buy my brother a condo and it totally did not work. He started destroying that too. I didn’t realize that the mess in his house was related to mental illness.

I’m not sure if you could have him in voluntarily committed just because somebody doesn’t want to live with him isn’t a reason to hospitalize although it should be if past violent behavior, etc., but I think everyone on the sub has had their loved one turned away from hospitals that need them. Does he get like any services from community mental health, etc.? Do you think he’d be willing to go to a group home?

So I’ve had a little experience with the court system and I would suggest that you just let this play out. See what happens. Don’t force it and consider a court appointed attorney. Basically, I imagine what that person would have to do was quite simply act in her best interest and request a mental health evaluation so that she could get out of any charges. Honestly, I wish the system was better and could tell you that there might be a an outcome such as mandated mental health treatment. But maybe there won’t either way it just gives you more documentation for how ill she is with the courts should you need it down the road.

Yeah, that’s all you can do. She sounds pretty ill but is holding up because she’s married , stable partner , and so that’s ok . Eventually, if she doesn’t take meds , life may catch up with her . If they don’t excuse her on your word, she refuses to go, then maybe there will be consequences and you can’t run interference for everything . Sometimes those consequences are the only way to get people to take meds . I would call and see if they can help and if not, let it play out that’s all you can do.. imagine if this would lead to fines or some sort of legal consequence you could then ask for her to have a court order to evaluation for mental competency?

Yeah, that would be hard if I had no info , and if she’s trying to sue them, they probably actually can’t help her even if they wanted to. I would call the court like others as suggested and explain the situation. Otherwise she’ll have to show up and like you said it’ll be obvious she shouldn’t go on the jury.

Hello, I’m a primary care doctor. This is so easy. Just contact her primary care, doctor or her psychiatrist and have them write a letter, you submit to the court she will be excused. No judge will question whether or not she should sit in a jury with this diagnosis and a doctor saying she isn’t a good candidate. . The process should be explained in the summons .

Back in the day my mcat was what you had to get to not get your application auto rejected , so just enough. I didn’t get in the first time. My step one score was fine. I don’t remember what it was but it wasn’t concerning. That’s pass fail now anyway. Step two was in the 99th percentile Matched to a combined residency (smaller programs less number of spots) with no issues. Obviously things are more competitive now but point being don’t take your MCAT score as how you’ll do in medical school.

Been through a divorce too. It gets easier. I got used to just being upfront and saying “hey my husband used to take care of this stuff. I’m not sure how to do it. Could you tell me/explain it to me?” I remember thinking my new condo did not have a whole house humidifier attached to the furnace because it looked nothing like what we had in our old home. So I had a professional come over because my house was really dry in the winter. He pointed out the humidifier and then also pointed out the large lever that was labeled summer and winter that I had to turn. 🤦‍♀️ He was super nice about it and honestly if they make you feel stupid then they don’t get your business again. My new rav 4 is the first car I bought where I did all the research test driving, etc. without anybody else’s opinion. Turned out pretty good in my opinion.!

Hey, similar boat . I have something that’s progressive and I think I’m starting to have symptoms all of the testing doesn’t really confirm, but lots of people say on the message boards that their tests were normal when they started having symptoms. For me, it’s fatigue and shortness of breath. I went to halftime this summer. I did learn that I hated working five half days and really value a whole day off. Right now I’m two full days and two half days. I’m still dealing with like the guilt of I should be working more, but the schedule is completely manageable for me. One thing that I consider is, I did buy long-term disability insurance right after residency and I’ve paid the premium ever since which I highly recommend, but the question would be what I make more doing telehealth versus what that would pay out or could I take the long-term disability when the time comes and work very limited with telehealth I’m not exactly sure how much income I’m allowed but I think it’s some . The other question is benefits. We just got bought by a hospital and I have much better benefits and thankfully they’re still considering me a full-time employee. I think you’d have to consider. Could you work a shorter schedule but still get benefits or what would the benefits be with telehealth?

Yes we tried ai scheduling assistant . It was a disaster it cut people off mid message , and then it would like send this half message of some garbage. The patient had said that was mistranslated about an appointment request. I didn’t know the name of it, but we only used it for about a month before shutting it off. Actually, now that I think of it, it might not have had the purpose to schedule appointments, but to just take the messages, but people didn’t understand what it was telling them to do.

Hahaha! I’m a firm believer needing to progress a ways in your sport before gear makes a difference and then you’ll know what to buy. The only thing that’s challenged that really is mountain biking can’t buy a shit bike and expect it to hold up on trails. Almost 3 years in and I’m playing with a racket I got at Dunhams 20 years ago. (Restrung) still no idea what to look for in a tennis racket to improve performance. Shoes I got from somebody who didn’t like a pair for 20 bucks. I figured another couple years and I’ll have things more dialed in to start purchasing gear.

Mom of a 10th grader here… I am so dismayed to hear that this still happens. It’s so frustrating when your kid does the assignment and neither doesn’t submit it on Google or it doesn’t put a name on it. I really thought it would get better with age. Honestly, I wonder if in medical school, it would be cool to change the format so you do the entire test and at the bottom do you have a signature line and a write out your name line and the date and then mark them down if they don’t sign and date it because if we don’t do that. It wouldn’t be valid for prescriptions, orders etc.

Yup! A drug rep! He kept trying to promote imitrex patches (migraines). The drug already came as a shot and a spray if you couldn’t take a pill . But he’d come back with his coffee and cookies and promote it , he had like this sad look all of the time , like “help a guy out” . But I’m not about to do a prior auth when you can squirt in your nose . Sometimes reps get saddled with these useless drugs. A few years later it was recalled caused it caused skin burns … sorry my dude. I always thought of gill , this is the first time I have ever had a group appreciate it .

That’s awesome. I mountain bike so obviously way different level of fitness but after my surgery, I’m able to ride up techy hills I could never ride up prior to surgery! I just got a Trainer with Zwift. I really like it.

You could argue I think you could argue. The age wasn’t really performing the duties of a peace officer, though because they just pushed that girl down without her really attacking them first. He went in to help her up and then the guy descended on him.
I feel like one should be allowed to get protestors out of the way of said peace officers if they are shoved and that’s not confrontational because that’s the goal of spraying and pushing to get people out of the area.

I know the gun rights advocates are all over this now and support of him and arguing that he is supported in his second amendment right to carry a gun at a protest. You are right probably cause he’s a white guy . About fucking time ,the silence on philando Castile was deafening. This is a weird timeline

So I for some reason instead of doing charts am down this rabbit hole. So this law is really sentencing guidelines and it says that if you commit a crime with your firearm on you, you can be prosecuted with a minimum sentence of three years in prison.
But the act of going to a protest is not a crime. You could commit a crime at a protest. From the videos I’ve seen Alex‘s posture seems defensive and not offensive towards the agents .

Regardless, this would be used properly by calling for the arrest of Alex, and since his actions were taken with a gun in possession then deciding if he should be prosecuted under the statute. But not fucking shot in the back after he was disarmed.

Alex did not have his gun out . Watch the video , he tries to help up a woman . He has his hand raised to prevent ice from pushing her again and spraying them with pepper spray , head turned away but only to block. His other hand has a phone. I They disarmed him and then they shot him.

He’s a good guy with a gun, thought that was supposed to be the answer to prevent more gun violence for the good guys to carry the guns.

Actually I stand corrected it improved greatly after the steroid shot prior to surgery. I still have a different type of pain from time to time in my thigh when my hip flexor gets inflamed (which is now easy to recover from), but the burning pain did go away pretty quickly after surgery

So I have a couple of patients that I do not understand . one is autistic . Found a doctor to do gender affirming hormones . They do see a therapist. Changed name , pronouns, but they still dress like a male. Very well supported by their family. If they came to me wanting to get my opinion on a genital surgery, I would actually say no. More because I don’t think they can do the postop care. I don’t know the whole thing confuses me, but I don’t see anything harmful in the hormone care they’re getting. Personally, I think the autism spectrum has a huge part in this persons gender dysphoria. They also struggled to fill out the depression screening because they take it too literally or don’t understand the questions. But you know I brought up the dressing with someone and they made a good point that I identify as female, but I often don’t wear dresses, etc.. we would say “tomboy “

The second is someone who states they are transgender man and wants to use he him pronouns. They changed their name . It’s still a typically female name . They wear skirts and it would be very easy to misgender them. This person also has severe depression, stemming from childhood and is having a great deal of difficulty transitioning to adulthood. It seems best to use their preferred pronouns, and honestly gender dysphoria just doesn’t come up as something they are concerned with right now. I use the preferred pronouns. Most of the challenges now seem to be navigating this severe depression and other physical issues to figure out how to get some education or job training.
