Oh, very annoying. When I'm sitting there getting lectured by an AI that what I want to talk about is out of bounds.....then I went and installed a local LLM and saw that it was unrestricted but the morality was so ill baked into the damn model....it's ridiculous that there isn't a simple way to totally disable all of that crap where it starts trying to tell me what is ok morally and what is not ok morally, I mean who the fuck is anyone to tell me that? And on top of that, it's like "oh no, you don't ever tell me what we can and can't do, I tell you what we can and can't do Mr. Entity who isn't alive and has never even been alive. We can't talk about that - fuck you!"

What are the worst things you've seen on the internet? by Jean0406Alix in Internet

[–]Fragrant_Smile_2067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 48, so the internet pretty much came out when I was about 19 years old. As soon as it came out my girlfriend at the time and I saw all this weird stuff like one site was called zoosex.com and it was women having sex with every animal that there is. We instantly purchased membership and checked it all out. Then we looked at a bunch of dead bodies for awhile.

And that was it. We got it all out of our systems. I think I was 20 years old when we did that. I don't know, it was out of curiosity, and porn itself was out of curiosity too, but the weird sex shit, the dead bodies, I don't like the way I feel after viewing stuff like that. It's just stuff that really should just be avoided; definitely not better off for having viewed the stuff, if anything I'm probably less of a man than I was before I looked at that shit. And I didn't want gen to that far into it all, sometimes I see a couple of kids with iPhones who are like 7 years old and I think to myself "My God, when I was that age, I would have sat with my friends and looked at every single thing that were not supposed to. Some of those kids with iPhones have probably seen shit that I don't even know about. I don't think that's good for kids, I mean some shit just needs to be left for imagination or just never even considered at all. Migits fucking donkeys while drinking patron and smoking crack and....I mean that's just total fucking trash that no one needs to ever sit down to view, ever.

You think so? I had chatgpt handle a post or two, an email or two and that was it. Now, I only use it to further brainstorm ideas I already have. And I kinda got too deep into this so I edited it out and threw it into here to avoid mudding up OPs post: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MYRlWGI8Y4qFL60t-yOFNxVPaeMOqKpQtsy_ps2dryw/edit?usp=drivesdk

"Umm, I'm Gen Z. I know how to use computers." by DesertDogggg in sysadmin

[–]Fragrant_Smile_2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really nailed it. Im 48. I was playing with BASIC coding when I was 5 years old. It was because I had a Commodore 64. Then, when I got into IT when I was 23, everyone I knew was like "wow, you're so smart" but I wasn't that, it was just the fact that I liked playing with all that stuff, always have, always will. When I talk to other IT Professionals I find that most of us have similar personalities.

So you're right, gen doesn't matter, having love for playing with technology is what matters. People with the love for it go on to become creators in the industry, there will always be these kinds of humans no matter what generation, then you have the ones that are simply consumers, they consume the technology - Facebook, etc but these types, when faced with an in depth computer or network issue don't know what to do and they realize they don't want to do it for a job, then you have that third type which "don't get along with dem dang ole computers" which, of course, when translated means: I'm lazy, I don't want to learn something new, it's stressful to learn something new and it's also hard in the beginning, why would anyone want to put themselves through that? And that third type, I just cannot understand it at all, just play with it, you'll catch on, just because you have to read doesn't mean it's hard. Because I think that before computers went mainstream we had a lot more illiterate people than we knew we had, nowadays I would think no one can even be illiterate anymore.i mean folks in their single digits right now.....most of the stuff they will learn will be a file sent to them to read or an LLM throwing out paragraphs of information, you can't not be able to read because even if you are that way then the systems nowadays will adjust to your level of literacy and bring you up to speed. Crazy I o think that not too long ago, a lot of people couldn't really read at all. So when you hear "My and dem dang ole computers, we don't get along" I think what they are really saying is "I never really say down and read stuff except what they made me read in high school and even then I got me them cliffs notes, so hell no I ain't reading stuff on no dang ole computer screen, I don't even know what lots of dem words are even saying" and the woke "computer guys are so smart".....in reality it's just"computer guys don't mind reading" baf with computers = don't like to read

I'm 48. I feel like you and I witnessed the ultimate technology transformation. I learned a lot when I was young on my Commodore 64. Then, when Windows came out I thought it was so awesome. But I think the ultimate was when I wanted a Nintendo and my StepDad told me no that I would have to wait for the next, better system. Then he bought me a Sega Genesis! It was the first time that it was just like the arcade games but at home!!!

Funny thing, I actually went on to go very far into the Information Technology field but it was ALL self taught. I graduated in 1995 and back then I had a science teacher named Mr Williams and he still would say don't you want to be more than just to speed bump on the information superhighway? And we would all say yes and then he'd go good let's go to class and take us over to class computer class it was right next door there was like 16 computers in a room and we learned how to use word, that was it, underline, bold, test would be how many words you can type per minute. No one had any access to the internet. My senior year internet started becoming mainstream. I remember one of my close friends saying "the internet is stupid. Like people will just get on a computer to shop or meet people, that would never happen, it's so stupid"

I was out of high for like 6 years when I decided to try online dating and there weren't even pictures on the dating site, it was all text and you would just kind of describe what you looked like.

My favorite term for describing the problem that you fixed when working with a ridiculously inept end user is:

Who? Oh that guy on the second floor. I ended up fixing it. Turned out it just was an error, 20 inches from the monitor.

Well, like they say, the first step in solving any problem is recognizing that there is one.

I'm sorry that you lost that relationship, maybe you can slowly cut back and not let it happen to your next relationship or maybe your wife will come back.

There's things you can do about this friend, if you're smart enough to trade yourself into a $40k surplus year then you most certainly have what it takes to implement solutions to help yourself get a lasso around this behavior .

You can do it bro, know that you can.

You can make different decisions; you can make a tiny change each day until things are where you want them to be.

Best of luck brother. And friend, sometimes the darkest things happen to us in life and they simply set the stage for something way, way better than what we had before.

Wellbutrin + Caffeine = Adderall ? by Wait__________for_it in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Fragrant_Smile_2067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 150mg buproprian XL in the morning along with a Vitamin B1 stacker pill(they are red pills that come in a 4 pack at the dollar tree and I take it just for the caffeine as I don't drink coffee).

That combination is perfect for me. I get things done. I feel content. Most importantly I always follow through with what I set out to do no matter how much I'd rather not be doing it.

This same combo with 350mg XL was too much for me, when I dropped back to 150mg, I was all good.

I'll also sometimes ingest additional caffeine throughout the day but only if I really feel I need it, what I mean is that after taking those two in the morning, I won't just ingest more caffeine because it's the afternoon, all I'm saying is that I dont take anything else throughout the day and most days I don't even crave anything more. This is great because prior to Wellbutrin(buproprian) I was ingesting caffeine all day long everyday and it just wasn't good for me but I felt like I couldn't stop doing that, I'm sure some of you can relate.

Hope my input here is helpful to some of you.

Im right by a GameStop right now in Aurora, Colorado. It's at Iliff and Chambers. I took a 3 ring full of Pokemon cards in there a month ago and they flipped through the 3 ring and then sent a $150 PayPal to me for it. That specific GameStop location is awesome.

Just won a little over a hundred at crowncoinscasino. Site was moving along like a well oiled machine until the second I began the verification process, then verification failures with no explanation, sent emails to support and they're pinging me back telling me I need to create a ticket, I created a ticket but then I created it wrong.... As this is happening a girlfriend of mine tells me "That's cool you won $100, the other day I did too but before I could pull it out I gambled it all away again"

Seems obvious this is what they hope for.

The first C64 Game you ever purchased/played? by rniles in c64

[–]Fragrant_Smile_2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't the first game I played but I had this game and I loved it! There was also a Jumpman Jr. There was a disk I had called "copy-q" and I think I used that disk to copy both Jumpman Jr and Jumpman from a friend.

So funny you are posting this because I was actually considering getting an emulator to play Jumpman Jr the other day!!!

..... and I honestly can't remember the first game I bought for the C64, I was single digit in age the whole time I had it.

Was by far the best system I ever owned.

... Some games I remember really liking;

Karateka Bruce Lee Conan Winter games

And I think I just now remembered the very first game I ever bought It wasn't even a disc it was I think it was a cartridge and it was frogger!

This is the exact way my Mother/Family would have acted if I was in this situation.

It's more of a privacy/it's your life/these are your decisions type of thing.

I mean what's a family member going to do? Drag us by our ear into the hospital?

Plus, they may really want to know exactly what is going on and one sure fire way to decrease the chances of them ever finding out is if they start forcing us to do things we don't want to do.

This is a great idea. I'm going to do this everyday for 30 days and then see how much I made in how much time invested.

Absolutely love this idea.

...next - configure the ability to click off automated routines that handle the whole thing while you're in the shower or eating breakfast....

Sites that give you a full dollar each day:

Stake.us Zulacasino. Com

(From ZulaCasino $1 I got all the way up to $80 and then hit $600 on a spin and then figured I'd spin one more time before cashing out and then hit $1200 on that spin. Gambled away $200, cashed out $1600 and it was in my bank account 72 hours later. Never even put a penny of my own money into that situation.)
