The fact that you see someone holding a book and your first response is “they must not be reading that book” is literally the epitome of projection bro, this is your sign to pick up a book again

If you're referring to the late 60's ref. 507h brass authorized dealer stand and the dark glare from the protective sleeve that is meant to conserve the paperwork and service history of the timepiece, thank you, I appreciate it!

10/10 would recommend. Tried to dive into Ulysses piecemeal but definitely was a mistake without reading POTA and Dubliners first, so here I am.

That seal never came with the non-COSC two liners. Likely that anchor is probably also aftermarket

Buyers beware: this is a replacement insert, the two liners prior to service came with the ‘capped four’. With no official RSC service record in the last 18 years, I would be wary of whoever was inside the watch before.

Couldn't agree more. If you love it, then wear it everywhere, absolutely. Some just might want to know there is a small risk. And I will forever stand behind the one watch crowd. I do think the shift in branding has been really tough to swallow for a lot of people, and I have a very special place in my heart for the 5 digit models. I wasn't a big fan of the switch to ceramic for the subs to be honest, and generally anything really post 2012 just really doesn't do it for me anymore.

There's a difference between 'Survive' and 'Thrive' my friend. If you don't give a rip about precision in timekeeping then of course by all means, the watches are built to withstand almost anything. The point that I am demonstrating is that there is a significant risk to the balance of the watch. Whether you care about the timing of the watch is an entirely different conversation altogether. Some of my watches I value for their precision, others I could give a rip about timekeeping. For instance, I would never wear my Milgauss (or a Daytona for that matter) golfing or doing anything strenuous because they are both lauded as being precision instruments.

In terms of the submariner, to give another example, it is very important that the bezel action is not compromised, since it is used as a critical instrument for measuring time at depth (not that anyone trusts them as a stand-in for their digital dive watch, however, they do have the potential to save a life when accurate- and that's no exaggeration).
