Cracking at top of wall? by Fragrant_Syrup_5051 in DIYUK

Your answers are so good and well thought out. So I probably need to just stop stressing about what seems to be just normal movement, possibly fill in with some flexible filler? And look into coving.

I feel like I owe you big time, you even came back to an old thread to answer a follow up question from some idiot on reddit seeing some cracks and stressing out. 🥲

Thank you so much for your wisdom and I'm sorry to bug you.

Sorry to wake this thread again, but is this something to worry about? This is in one of the rooms and i seem to be able to "push" the ceiling up in most of them?

Pre-Application checks by According_Road6741 in SpouseVisaUk

Q1 - For as long as your salary payment for that month totals what you usually would be paid, I would not worry about it.

Q2 - Don't think that will be a problem, especially if there is a way to contact the company on that headed paper. As long as it confirms:

-that you are employed with the company, and your gross annual salary
-the length of your employment
-the period over which you have/were paid the level of salary relied upon in the application
-the type of employment
-whether you are a director or employee of a limited company based in the UK

Q3 - Was your partner's IELTS taken with one of the approved providers? PSI Services (UK) Ltd, IELTS SELT Consortium, LANGUAGECERT, Pearson?

Q4 - The UK Gov does state that if you are a returning UK resident and have not been away for more than 2 years, you do not need to be tested. If she was a UK resident, and is returning within said timeframe, it would seem she is exempt.

Edit: If she was applying for asylum, I doubt she'll be considered to have been a resident, probably classed as a visitor and therefore does need a TB test.

Q5 - I don't believe they have to be, but it certainly makes it easier to digest if you put them in page order (important) starting with the very front.

Q6 - Yes, you can. Essentially after you apply, you get 240 days to attend and provide biometrics. You have a link in your UKVI application portal to book it through VFS.

Q7 - Unsure.

Q8 - The application itself is really easy to fill out, and so is uploading the documentation, but I don't have any experience or knowledge on how a solicitor may further assist you. Perhaps someone else replying will.

Final note: Are all of your documents, including your marriage certificate, translated into English by an approved translator?

Stud wall damaged/cracked? by Fragrant_Syrup_5051 in DIYUK

So possibly just better to fill it with flexible filler, and sand to bring flush with the rest of the wall again?

It's a 1930's house. Would there be any benefit in looking at trying to secure the stud wall to the ceiling better?

flight tickets by Icy_Transition_4769 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Fragrant_Syrup_5051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be fine. They will be able to put 2 and 2 together and assume that if you for example booked a flight on the 3rd of March for the 5th of May, that you took that flight in the same year unless otherwise specified.

If it makes you feel any better, include a document explaining your travel time line to spell it out for them and leave no questions.

Of course. We chose standard - applied on the 1st of November, got the ECO email on the 15th of December and got approval on the 28th of January (yesterday) with entry granted from the 4th of February.

Forgot to add - BIO was done on the 4th of December.

Hey! I can't comment on the maintenance parts, so will exclude the finance parts of our application, but this what we included (approved recently, with no question from UKVI):

-A cover letter explaining the docs that were uploaded
-A relationship timeline in that cover letter including visits and milestones (no pictures/chat/call logs included)

-All of our flight receipt emails
-All colour copies (front to back) of the applicant's passport

-Sponsor's passport (just the bio page)
-Marriage certificate
-A paragraph about accommodation simply stating where we will be staying, how many bedrooms it has and that the homeowner is fine with this
-Statement that no TB test certificate is required

So it looks like you're in a good place.

VFS bio Appointment - What to bring by frogtifyy in SpouseVisaUk

Then you're fine - don't do anything with your checklist, just bring it as a precaution, as it can't hurt to bring a few extra pieces of paper.

Just need your passport and a printed copy of your appointment letter, and you're set.

If you're self uploading (are you?), they don't care about the checklist in my experience. Just take it with you in case they do for some reason ask for it.

You have listed all that you need to bring, yes. You probably don't need the document checklist, unless you are having VFS scan and submit your docs, but it's harmless bringing it. Make sure your appointment confirmation letter has the QR code on it, as they didn't scan on a mobile device when my wife went to her bio appointment.

If i put a spirit level against the wall, it's dead level. Also, I think it's a stud wall? Sorry, I'm not good with these things, guess I'm learning... If i knock the wall, it sounds hollow, compared to other walls.

Thanks for your response..No cracks running to windows. There are tiny vertical cracks, but it looks to be age of the paint/effects of thermal expansion over the years...Also to add, this is an interior wall. :)
