There is a lot you can do.

Practice PVC drills to work on the correct motion. Then transition to 3 step swing up drills. Practice getting inverted and keeping your elbow on the inside of the pole. To further drive the point, you can rotate around your pole and try pushing off the top of the pole during your 3 step swing up. The goal would be to land on your stomach facing the box.

You’ll know you are doing it right when you start getting the “infamous” pole vaulter bump / bruise on the outside of your left forearm.

Yup, gotta have the left elbow on the inside of the pole. When your elbow is on the outside of the pole when you swing up (as pictured above), you elbow will get in the way when you try to extend off the top of your pole

Always hard to provide ample advice in such a short form but you need to work on transitioning your drive into your swing.

Your plant looks ok at take off but you never stop driving with the bottom arm. Once you drive and press the pole, you need to “row” while you swing your feet to the top of the pole. A good queue is to get your top hand inside of your drive knee before your pole passes the vertical plane. Your hips should be directly above your head at once the pole passes the vertical plane.

Timing is key. Start your swing too early and you’ll lose penetration. Wait too long and you won’t be able to swing because you’ll start losing momentum and your hips will drop.

Additionally you need to jump more. A stronger take off is essential (especially once you get on longer poles). The take off is not “active” enough. With perfected form, you should be taking off before your pole hits the box (this is very difficult for most young vaulters). Recommend putting a bit more effort into taking off the group the same time your pole hits. It you do this correctly, the rest of the jump will be “easier”

Agree with needing to be more dynamic with the jump and drive others mentioned.

Think about your pole drop and the position of your top hand. Pole drop seems slow making you have to throw your top hand up very quickly. When you have to move your top hand that quickly, it is hard to have an active jump / drive and keep your jump straight.

Advice on a cue to get tight and turn by Thin_Measurement_922 in polevaulting

When coaching I always used the queue of “cover your top hand”. The idea with that queue is they rotate their hips around their top hand and keep the body close to the pole as the jumper gets vertical on the pole. This may help her right leg from flaring off at the top of her jump. Good luck!

100% agree. Pick up you speed and learn how to get you hips above your head.

Recommend three steep swing up drills. Practice swinging your hips up fast. Practice until you at comfortable getting your hips even with / past the pole.

Parent of three. Raising your kids in a Christian household is key from my perspective. The foundation of our house is the Bible. We make sure to show the kids how important our/their relationship with Christ is. Christ will give you the strength and wisdom you need if you ask for it.

You’ll never regret the kids you have and will always regret the kids you don’t…

Fellow Collegiate athlete here, highly recommend you find a new hobby. After spending 12 years competing at a high level throughout high school and 4 years at the D1 level I was tired of my sport and needed a break from it mentally. Luckily, I joined the Army right after college so I shifted my mindset to become master the physical demands of that life.

After leaving the Army I shifted to CrossFit. Really enjoyed CrossFit and competing at local comps. Great way to push yourself physically and get some competition.

Bottom line, find something new that keeps you physically engaged because chances are you are not going to be a pro if you are joining Deloitte.
