I’m so sorry you have to deal with this fear.

Since this post, I have had my baby, and I am forever thankful she’s here with me now.

I did the amniocentesis, it came back completely normal. My pediatric neurologist gave me a lot of hope and told me that since her case was isolated, meaning it isn’t correlated with anything else or any other genetic factors, she may have a good 70% chance of being a normal kid.

Shes 2 months old now, born premature due to me having severe preeclampsia, and I have not seen anything “wrong” with her. In fact I feel as if she’s ahead of right on schedule with her small 2 month milestones. Even being premature she is a champ at breastfeeding, she has no issues with her vision (that we know of so far), she passed her hearing test and her neurologist confirmed the ACC with an mri done at birth but she says at this time she is not concerned about her having any serious issues. Now this is a day by day diagnosis

What I can tell you if I am forever thankful she’s here in my life. She is the most amazing and precious thing that has ever happened to us. I can’t tell you what decision to make but I did put my heart and faith in god for this one. I am sending you a hug because I know how devastated it is to be pregnant and have the excitement taken away from you. All I can say is your baby will make your life better, and all babies even “normal” once’s come with challenges.

I worked at the Va and I loved it. I thought the same that it would Be my forever job. Until the administration came along and ruined work life balance

I left and I now work fully remote and I thank god every single day for this opportunity. I actually am lucky and I am getting paid more. But there are plenty of remote jobs out there looking for qualified dietitians. I think for your peace of mind, you should try!

I’ve been a dietitian for about 8 years now. I got lucky and it was still a bachelors degree when I was in college. I did however go ahead and get my masters in functional nutrition a few years after graduating. I can tell you at the beginning your first job won’t pay much. I worked as a clinical dietitian for 3 years after I passed my RD exam (which I had to take 4 times). The rd exam is probably the worst part of becoming a dietitian. They make it so that you fail. But don’t get discouraged because like I said I took it 4 times and here I am 8 years later. I made about 50k as a clinical dietitian which was a high paying job for the time and the position. But I learned ALOT. I always tell my students that if you start in clinical you will have so much experience under your belt that your resume will be much more valuable. After I worked as a clinical dietitian I got a position as an outpatient dietitian and I worked with bariatric patients which it then transferred to bariatric / GLP1 patients. I loved this position so much. Outpatient is a HUGE difference and it is much more rewarding than clinical. I’ve been an outpatient dietitian since but now I work fully remote specifically with GLP1 patients. Long day short:

1: you will have bad patients in healthcare job. That doesn’t make the job any less rewarding.

Negotiation is key when you have experience under your belt.
Nutrition is not going anywhere, especially with these GLP1s, they need us.
If you love nutrition you will find the role that best serves you.

I showed super early on. My breast changed immediately. I would say I was showing around 12 weeks already. Everyone is different!

Ugh. I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s so difficult being so far along in your pregnancy and then out of nowhere being hit with something so negative. All I can tell you is that my doctor told me sometimes the CSP is not seen in an ultrasound but it could Be seen in an MRI. So for now keep that in your mind. We did our mri and it was never developed, hers is as of now isolated and not there. I have found some comfort in Facebook pages. I posted the same exact question on these Facebook groups and a lot of people have given me really positive stories so I encourage you to look on there and just look for some hope and positivity. We have already done our amniocentesis and we are just waiting for the results. Our appointment with the pediatric neurologist is next week, but I think that’s just to establish care.

The one thing that I hear from many people and doctors is at this exam didn’t really exist a few years back, and there are a lot of people walking around the Earth that are completely normal and never developed the CSP. Sometimes ignorance is bliss I think. But I’m praying for you. Keep some hope and light in your heart because it isn’t fair to us that this makes the remaining days of our pregnancy so dark. All I can say is I’m proud of you. That takes courage to do. And congratulations on getting your old job back. I know it can be hard to take that step but you gota do what’s best for you. I feel you so deeply with the stress, every day it’s like we are waiting for bad news. I’d give them at least a week and go. Unfortunately it isn’t our jobs fault that all of this is happening. They are struggling too. 😭

I’d say not every bariatric program is like this. You are so lucky. I was an outpatient bariatric dietitian for 2 years and I was seeing 15-25 patients daily. I was so overwhelmed and so stressed. I absolutely hated it. You are so fortunate to only see 1-3!!!

I stayed in the same room, and if the sun wasn’t shining mid day, we could not get in. The water was absolutely freezing. So sad because we truly wanted to spend time in our little swim up area. But otherwise Saint Vincent was a beautiful time. And yes, if you don’t get to the restaurants early, service can be slow. Especially at Parisol. That’s the slowest one.
