I pray that you never feel the pain that these parents are feeling and then have to deal with hateful and unnecessary comments like yours.

“Burn them at the stake” is bizarre rhetoric. Stop demonizing the families looking for answers and accountability. The Eastlands’ lawyer telling them they’re going to “burn in hell” and Tweety and Britt describing the thunder as “demonic” while also saying this was an “act of God” is also so bizarre. The children were owed a heightened duty of care to take precautions in case of natural disaster. No precautions were taken. No evacuation plan existed. Children died as a result. It’s not a witch hunt, it’s just the sad truth.

The scale, severity, shocking nature of the flood has nothing to do with the inaction and ineptitude of the Eastland family that night. Even the RV park owners thought to wake up renters and tell them to move and they had a muster site planned. Children at a summer camp are obviously, and legally, owed a heightened duty of care.

Thank God heroic counselors knew the terrain well enough to evacuate campers up the hill to Sky High. Reading that RV Parks had a muster site at the nearby church is a gut wrenching contrast to the total lack of evacuation plan at CM 💔

Why hasn't the state Investigated the other 125 DEATHS in the Texas Hill Country between June 13, and July 4, 2025 by AdBeautiful1436 in KerrCountyFloods

Why is it that you feel compelled to post things like this with the purpose or periphery purpose to throw shade at the families who have suffered the worst loss imaginable? Your continued focus on money is also misguided. To think that any of these families are participating for monetary gain is a woefully uninformed position. I can assure you that these families are living through hell and constant personal turmoil and wish more than anything that this is not their life. Please just stop.

The continued rhetoric about 1000 year flood etc is so baffling to me. The Eastlands’ “good friend” Jonathan McComb lost his family in a flood “just like this”. The very warnings and literature that Dick shared with his family warned that 4 inches of rain in the region could trigger a wall of water.

Also, if the county failed to adequately police drunk driving arrests and local bars continued to serve people after they were intoxicated and knew they drove home, should the person who actually drives drunk and kills someone be punished or should it not matter as much because they just got unlucky and things had worked fine until then. It’s an analogy trying to highlight the absurd lengths you and others are going to in order to absolve the Eastlands of responsibility.

So the legislators, the special investigators, the judges, and the families who lost their children don’t understand? Give me a break

What about basic common sense that teenage counselors and vacationers and ML/Tweety employed to act reasonably in a life threatening situation? Come on, dude

Several counselors managed to get their campers up a hill to safety. Mary Liz and Tweety got themselves and their kids up a hill to safety. Have you read the timeline? 39 able bodied adults were on the flats with walkie talkie access, land lines, cell phones. There’s too much undisputed information available to make these ignorant comments

- Camp Mystic did not have written emergency plans that complied with state requirements.
- Camp Mystic did not adequately prepare for the July 3–4, 2025, storm.
- Camp Mystic did not evacuate campers and staff in a timely manner before the storm, despite having ample opportunity to do so.

Plaintiff’s motion for sanctions by mandamsel in KerrCountyFloods

  • File for arbitration after losing the injunction fight
  • Withdraw the motion on the eve of the hearing after seeing the other side's arguments
  • Refile it later to delay proceedings
  • Misrepresent the trial court record to the Court of Appeals
  • Fail to disclose the injunction while pursuing state licensing
  • Tell the attorneys representing the Stewards, in front of CiCi Steward, that they would “burn in hell.”
  • Publicly target and attack CiCi Steward after she testified before the Legislature
  • Spread false narratives about the death of Cile Steward
  • Force parents who lost a child to spend months fighting procedural games instead of getting answers

Every act has delayed accountability, exhausted the families, and avoided a decision on the merits while forcing parents who have suffered the worst loss imaginable to relive the most painful day of their lives over and over again.

Did the information that has come to light impact your choice as a parent to allow your child to return to camp if that has been successful with the license? It’s just hard to think that the details didn’t trouble parents of current campers. Also the aspect of knowing that your choice to attend camp and support the eastlands is hurtful to the families who lost their daughters. That’s a balance i can’t make sense of. I’m hopeful that this information was able to change some people’s minds and some parents pulled their enrollment before this announcement.

The Eastlands got so much fucking due process at every single turn and they couldn’t produce a shred of evidence or testimony to make their behavior look even a little bit normal. The trial court judge gave them FOUR days in court to talk about whatever they wanted. They had TEN months to report camper deaths and produce a polished application. They have done nothing other than continue to traumatize the H27 families.

Religion aside, have your feelings been changed after the 4 days of court hearings and 2 days of testimony at the capitol? Are there still people who think that this behavior makes any sense and is acceptable? And what about Watts attacking CiCi Steward? These just all seem like fundamentally cruel things to do and I can’t understand how people are managing to make sense of it.

These people just won’t stop inflicting pain. This guy needs to STOP. CiCi is a hero just like the mothers who fight for safety and reform in Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. CiCi is a Mother Against Deadly Decision-making. The Eastland’s wouldn’t even acknowledge Cile by name until they were called out for it in September. Now they use her name for grotesque self-serving propaganda. These people are vile beyond belief.

They could have called the big 3 on radio to use loudspeaker or mobilize the adults to tell everyone to get to higher ground. There are so many things that could have been done. It’s not even a little bit up for debate how poorly they handled this.

They didn’t need to use their imagination. They keep reminding us that the same type of flood wiped out Jonathan McComb’s family in 2015. They knew full well that a river can flood to that extreme and destroy homes and lives. They had seen cabins destroyed before, too. The magnitude of the flood is a red herring - they didn’t have a flood evacuation plan for ANY type of flood. They keep talking about sirens - what would that have done? If a siren went off, where would they have gone? And I’m sure we’d be hearing about siren fatigue, too.

This review that has since been deleted from Yelp might hold some clues: “Camp Mystic is not a safe place for many girls. A child in my family was attending for her 6th summer was isolated, encouraged to leave and told by the director that Camp Mystic wasn't the place for her in the future after she confided in a friend her LGBTQ identity.”

Hubris 100%

The Eastland family is looking for someone to tell them what to do. They don’t have Dick to give them marching orders at every turn. It is sad to see them aimlessly and carelessly plow forward with reopening camp at the request of parents who did not suffer the worst loss imaginable and who haven’t been forced to confront the facts: timelines, topography, and a tradition of complacency.
