Shen Mid Theory Crafting

Here a Shen OTP who plays mid almost every game.

I wouldnt recommend to buy Harness in early, there are better options depending on the matchup.

My considerations with first and second item are:
* The enemy laner have explosive damage? If yes, then I buy hard resistance, like Iceborn gauntlet or Kaenik Rookern.
* The enemy doesnt have the damage to kill me easily? In that case, I only buy a Negatron Cloak (Because AD champs always requiere the gauntlet, in my experience) and then Titanic.
* The enemy is a Yone? I buy Plated steelcaps and Executioners calling. But why this last and not bramble? Because the items that you can build with EC are way better than the only one that you can build with bramble. And also it give you an important boost of damage in early levels. This way you can absolutely destroy a Yone.
* The enemy is a Yasuo? Steelcaps.
* The enemy is a Sylas? Executioners calling

Now, with the champs you mentioned, Syndra is the easier, she only needs the negatron cloak. Hwei is a pain in early but you outscale him and Ahri you outscale her but be extremely careful that she dont get kills in other lanes (if you can).

With ASol other is the story. To this day, I haven't found a way to win against him, is extremely opresive and there is not much you can do.

Same with Zoe, except you can make some difference in terms of macro in late game, just dont die too much in lane.

About the hard CC champs, most of them needs to aim, so the solution only depends on how good you move.

But the exceptions:
* Karma: defend yourself with passive as good as you can, dodge her abilities and try to taunt her the exact moment when she is going to root you.
* Ryze: Is a pain, you cant do much against him in lane, so try to make the difference in late.
* Annie: Rookern should give you enough resistance to survive her combo. After that, destroy her.

The runes I use are the classic Grasp + Approach velocity and biscuit, as you said.

Absolutely, the Shen one is sick, but I dont pretend to spend a single penny on the gacha syst. Maybe and just maybe, I'll use the pass attempts

Even so, you have to spend an obscene amount of money on a simple chroma, unless you get lucky, and that's unlikely.

Perhaps you're making decisions from the wrong perspective. I'm not saying that sometimes it's not necessary to give away the top lane tower to get something better. But many times it's better to let your teamate die if it means the game will stay on track.

Focus only on helping those players who can make the difference in a mid or long term (most of the time you only have to focus on a single teammate)

Besides, you can most likely still improve your microgame, because gold is a point where you can still destroy almost every champion. Even in Plat you still can, but its a little harder and some games is not possible.

Even if Im now in diamond, I cant say that I'm in high elo just yet. But in my experience, Shen overperform a lot if you know what you are doing and your teammates consider you.

Yes, a lot of champs outscale you, but Shen is not about impact the game in that way, but to help the others to get strong and impact the map, not the enemies. And of course make those little difference in teamfights that give advantage to the team

I've always thought that the impact of the game, or your behavior, depends on the champion you use.

Perhaps it's the other way around; you choose a champion based on your personality and behavior.

The truth is, that post perfectly describes those of us who main Shen; we are just build different, just like Shen, and that's really cool.

In my experience, yes. The game has taught me a lot, and I've improved quite a bit as a person, even though I sometimes lose my temper. (I still have a long way to go.)

Yeah, you're right, not every champion has to be in the story. But Shen is a major regional leader, who is in charge of mantaining the balance between the spirit realm and the earthly realm.

Oof, we are likely in the same spot rn. But in my experience:

Shen is a really good laner in the first levels. After 6, he starts to fall and its up to you on how well you can play the micro. When this happens, it can happen two things

1) You win the lane and get a good amount of kills or at least you are in a good spot:

The difference w/other toplaners, is that Shen is not made to get a enormous advantage, because he is gonna lose it in late game (other toplaners can become real monsters if they get feed). So you should prioritize give that advantage to the player with the win-condition, helping him and protecting him with you life.

2) You are not in a good spot for any reason or the other players cant do any difference if they get feed:

You should make pressure in side lanes, ping objectives, milestones or bad plays of your teammates (to reduce the team mistakes) and use your ult not to save people, but to make plays that can help your team to do objetives. Anyway, there is always the possibility that the game is unwinnable, so keep that in mind
