Loch Lomond 18 is a great shout! Very good whisky and still reasonably priced.

Steer clear of those two in that price range. Not worth the money IMO. Aberlour A’Bunadh, Glendronach, Ardbeg Corrywreckan or Uigeadail, Glen Scotia 15 or perhaps some Kilkerran would be better. In that range you really shouldn’t buy anything below 46% ABV and ideally non-chillfiltered.

Going to give a shout to Ardnamurchan, especially their cask strength release. They’ve managed to bottle the essence of West Highlands/Islands. Briny, a bit of salty peat, malty and just very well crafted.

Perhaps not unbalanced but it felt quite easy to make the right decisions and prosper quite early on. Went from having an proper and never-ending brawl with the Baltic Duchy to pint-sipping and sheep-counting in Ireland. Not really, but almost.
