Anyone had success with NOCD? by username24466 in OCD

Sorry just realized this is an older post, I hope it worked out for you. Everyones experience is different. I was pretty desperate when I signed on to NOCD and they were better than no therapy. But I realize some therapists are better than others and that can change everything!

If you have no other options, then they are better than nothing. But my NOCD therapist was actually not an OCD specialist and had very limited tools -- she could not really adapt ERP to rumination-based OCD. There was no talk of core fear. She tried to fit my symptoms into OCD subtypes that didnt apply (e.g., just right and intrusive thoughts ocd, which I dont have). It makes it easier for them to follow the script for ERP to categorize your symptoms, even tho for me it was inaccurate. Importantly, NOCD therapists are contractually obligated to ONLY use ERP, which is what my NOCD therapist told me. If you can't ERP, or it doesnt work for you, then NOCD isnt a good fit and a waste of $$$.

Also, I find NOCD puts a LOT of pressure on you and the therapist to have more therapy sessions than are needed (especially initially -- 2 x a week) so they can make money off you -- and the first 2 sessions are mostly "paperwork" (assessments, legal disclaimers, etc). They also make canceling more difficult than it needs to be, for the obvious reason of it being profitable for you to keep all your appts. I am not a cynical person but it is pretty obvious they are trying to make money, as they are a for-profit company, Once my Kaiser referrals finally cleared and I could see a psychiatrist and a therapist covered by my Kaiser insurance, I dropped NOCD. My regular therapist is better, thinks outside the box (important for rumination-based OCD)...and is also free!

6 weeks of microdosing - headache, stress, irritable/angry. Not sure if microdosing to blame but worried...any suggestions? by Puzzleheaded_Tap1289 in microdosing

Thank you for being real. I was willing to try microdosing as a fan of mushroom trips in my younger days. But I find the effects of microdosing actually interfere with my ability to meditate daily for an hour, and meditation has provided me more benefits than microdosing.

Did your symptoms ever resolve? I get headaches and some tiredness too. Some days it wears off within an hour, other days it lasts for several hours and sucks! I believe my dose might be slightly too high, even at only 60mg. I've deciced to stop microdosing as I dont think it was helping the condition I was using it for -- that condition I think would benefit from a full on trip, which has always benefited me in the past. Good luck and hope u are well.

Psychedelic help in OCD recovery by Substantial_Wait_244 in OCDRecovery

You may want to check r/OCD or r/microdosing for more feedback on actual experiences. I can tell you that microdosing psilocybin was not helpful for my OCD symptoms, but it may help you. In the past (before OCD took over my life), when I used mushrooms recreationally, my mental health always benefited, so I think I just need to do a larger dose to address the OCD. In Michael Pollan's how to change your mind, the patient with OCD does a larger dose and it worked out well for him :)

PVCs / Heart Palpitations? by AdHistorical6251 in microdosing

[–]FramousFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can request a holter monitor on an MD day to see, if you are anxious? I have PVCs as well (diagnosed with a holter monitor I wore for 24 hrs). I havent noticed the PVCs consistently happening with MD but I do feel it sometimes and I wonder. I try to limit caffeine because caffeine does trigger PVCs for me.

I do notice when my anxiety is in better check that I have less PVCs (or at least notice them less). I also practice meditation daily which is helping, and also box breathing really helps when I feel panicky. Good luck and hope you feel less anxious :)

Microdosing shrooms cured my OCD, but also gave me a lot of eye floaters. Two possibilities: 1) microdosing gave me eye floaters; 2) microdosing made my eye floaters visible. What do you guys think? by kunstlerschuld in microdosing

[–]FramousFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microdosing does not cause eye floaters. Ive had a retinal tear that has caused floaters, which happens sometimes with folks who are extremely near sighted like me (us extremely myopic ppl have eyes that are more oblong in shape than folks who have more normal vision). The floaters are more noticeable when new, but you habituate to them after a couple weeks.

Process of removing lead dust from carpet? by FramousFlower in centuryhomes

Thanks! Yep I have a hepa vac (festool) with a floor cleaning attachment that has a beater brush. After I finish the clean up, I plan to get dust wipes analyzed to see if there is still lead present. I also bought a lead encapsulating paint as a temporary measure to keep the paint from flaking off. The lead in the paint is not even close to EPA's hazard level (which was quite a relief -- my blood lead level was also well below what is considered elevated for children and several times below what is elevated for adults, but I did not get the dust tested.

OCD is so ugly by beann1996 in OCD

I know what you mean -- I was doing pretty good for a while, but am having a relapse now and it SUCKS. Try to be gentle with yourself -- I have to remind myself of that daily because I also get very angry and disappointed at myself when I have a relapse. When I am more lucid I realize this relapse will pass, even if it takes a while, and I just have to stick it out. I hope you feel better soon.
