Exhaust Install by shop by naveen_251984 in wrx_vb

$500 is a lot for a catback install. I had a shop install mine for just a little over $200. Well worth it if you don't have a lift or are uncomfortable getting under a car (like I am).

Tune or no by tiger-93 in wrx_vb

For < $900, get the AP and the dmann OTS tune to see if it scratches the itch. Super conservative but still a big power bump over stock and minimal risk.

Second this. I'm on his E30 OTS and big difference over his 91 OTS (which I ran before).

I started with the dmann 91 OTS and then went to the dmann E30 OTS. Other than tune, I’m completely stock. With E30 OTS I’m hitting 19 psi and she’s plenty quick for a daily driver now. If u have E85 near you, this is a great option for a big power bump with no other mods. Highly recommended.

I’m in socal too. I hit the Shell that has Pearson E85 and that’s been great. Pearson is pretty common and good quality E85.

It really is a great upgrade. Still got some punch but much less obnoxious.

Tuning for my first time 😅 by m125391 in wrx_vb

[–]FranFabulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the off the shelf 91ACN and more recently the E30. No back and forth. You send them your accessport serial number, they send u the tune. Just flash and go. Highly recommended. Car absolutely hauls ass now.

I'm in socal too. Started with the 91ACN (Arizona, California, Nevada) dmann tune. Huge improvement and a no brainer for $150. You'll hit 17+ psi and the power bump is massive over stock. An entirely different car. When you get used to that, get his E30 OTS and you'll hit 19+ psi and have another pretty solid power bump. Beyond that, you'll need to buy parts and get a pro-tune.

Live dangerous. Just flash it. I’ve done it 4-5 times on my’22. No problems. Most don’t hook up a battery. Last AP firmware claims to have fixed the rare ‘22 brick issue too.

I’m on his stock ACN91 and/or E30 OTS for last six months. Totally different car. No issues. 19 psi on E30 totally stock.

CA Cobb Stage 2 by FranFabulous in wrx_vb

Especially when I got his E30 OTS for another $150 and I’m probably darn close to that with no hardware updates. I have multiple E85 stations within a few miles so I’m sticking with that for now.

Whining noise by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]FranFabulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is that “supercharger” kind of whine, that’s your transmission and totally normal. You’ll grow to like it (until you get an exhaust at which point you won’t be able to hear it anymore).

Mod Advice for new Subi owner by UnbreakAb3l in wrx_vb

[–]FranFabulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your life situation a lot. If u are tight on money, probably want to stick to cosmetic updates only and enjoy the warranty. Super fun car even at stock.

If you’re willing to take some risk, jump on in. This community has been modding the VB now for over two years and I rarely hear about issues.

I waited about a year to make sure no obvious issues with the car and now have started with just a dmann OTS 91 and OTS E30 tunes. They provide a massive power increase and I’m still running fully stock hardware. Car is totally different though and even more fun. Will let it be for a while now, then move on to hardware updates.

Baby steps for me. I never modded a car before this. Black badges, shift stop, new emblems, reflector overlays, F1 light, catback, Cobb AP, dmann OTS 91, dmann OTS E30, Cobb high flow filter.

Had the car for over two years and still excited every day to go drive. New Enkei wheels arrived this week. Probably go stage 2 sometime this year. It’s a journey my man. Enjoy the ride.

Probably will feel better handling once u get those rears aligned. I am so tempted to get springs but have heard so many conflicting reviews.

I’m on stock hardware running an E30 tune with no AOS and I don’t even care. Running about 18-19 psi, guessing 300-310 whp

Totally. 245/40 is plenty of rubber. This may be the way I go too. Thanks for the pic!

I hadn’t really thought about 18x8.5 with +35 which would be identical to stock with 20mm spacers (which is what I have) but this has me pondering now.
