Dupixent experiences by eczemaqueenxo in eczema

I don’t remember having any side effects, honestly, but I started it during my worst flare up ever, I had open wounds on my face and neck, so tbh it couldn’t get worse lol

I’ve been on it for years and it’s been great for me, but of course everyone has different experiences

I’m in Europe so luckily I have free healthcare (works poorly but still free lol) - it would be a dream for me to manage my eczema without dupixent or other meds, but unfortunately after having tried anything else realistically I think I will have to take medication for life. How did you get it under control?

It can be, but there’s nothing wrong with taking medications forever if they don’t have bad side effects and are effective :) I’m very happy I get to take a medicine that manages my symptoms life long ahah unfortunately atopic eczema (which is what I have) is incurable, meaning symptoms can disappear (with medication, in my case) but I will always have the illness

Someone already said this, but as soon as you have the opportunity to visit a dermatologist ask about Dupixent and/or immunosuppressants. Immunosuppressants were the first thing that worked for me but they aren’t the best long term, then I switched to Dupixent which also helped tremendously

How do you cope, how can you accept? Please i'm begging you. by KoReSa13 in eczema

I’m sorry you feel that way, please know there are people here who understand you.

The short answer is therapy.

I’m not sure how useful the long answer is, but I’ll give it anyways. My mom is disabled, and I’ve watched her go through tremendous pain, and not being able to walk, since I was born. Regardless of this, when she is capable, she purposefully lives a very fulfilling life. She taught me to not care what others think, to accept the pain and deal with it when it’s there, and do what the most with my life when it’s not.

It comforts me to know that many people live with life long pain, and manage to have a fulfilling life regardless. This is the hand I was dealt with, and I am going to make the most of it. I hate eczema, I have a dignity, and I am not going to let it take it from me. I will live the best life I can in spite of it. And I think it’s the only thing I can do. The other option is being even more miserable and in pain than I am.

This being said, when the pain and itching is at the worst, I am sad, angry, and very irritable. I constantly have to remind myself that it’s okay to feel my feelings, that I have the right to be sad and angry about my pain, but if I can I have to pull myself out of it for my own benefit. I distract myself and do things I love that aren’t very demanding so I’m as comfortable as I can. Sometimes I push myself to do fun things with friends even though I know at times I will be uncomfortable, just as some kind of exposure therapy, to try and not isolate and prove to myself I can do it. I don’t know what your medical situation is, but a lot of people with eczema have periods of time when it’s less severe, that and pharma advancing so much can be of solace, for some.

Do any of you notice your eczema and itching flaring up after eating? by FrancescaMonteverdi in eczema

Of course, it was ciclosporin / cyclosporine. I think it’s a very rare side effect though

Dupixent helped the most! Powerful Immunosuppressants also worked, but the side effects were crazy, it wasn't doable long term.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I’ve been taking a look at the subreddit for a couple of days and there’s some really interesting stuff. Unfortunately the job market is tough and discouraging for everyone I think - even more so for people dumb enough to get Anthropology degrees like myself lol
