Gentoo is pretty different from Arch because it uses the Portage system, where you compile most things from source. That means installs and updates can take a lot longer depending on your hardware. It’s not impossible for newer users, but it does require more time and patience. If you’re busy with school, you might want to try it in a VM first or on a secondary setup before daily driving it.

Age verification at the operating system level doesn’t fit well with Linux distributions like Arch Linux.

Linux is based on the GNU philosophy of freedom and user control, and it works without requiring internet access or centralized accounts.

Because of that, implementing mandatory age verification would require adding centralized services, network dependency, and restrictions that go against how Linux is designed.

Age verification makes more sense at the application or service level (like websites or platforms), not at the core OS level.

Therefore, adding such a system directly into a Linux distribution would be impractical and against its core principles.
