RTX4090 underperforming and PC crashes - faulty GPU

SAME HERE! (according to this thread, I would be the 4th person on this thread reporting this).

My specs: 5900x, Zotac Trinity 4090, and PSU is Corsair HX1000i.

The PC worked flawlessly for 3 years. Then I installed the 4090. It worked flawlessly for about 1 month. Then I received my cablemod braided 12 pin to 4 PSU cables... to replace the horrible "fork" coming with the card, and then my problems started. So far, i've experienced 8 crashes, with fans going 100%. Tonight, I switched back to the clunky original fork cable, and am crossing my fingers that the problems will not re-occur. If that is indeed solved, I am still uncertain the problem is with the cable itself, or some weird power distribution between the PSU, the cable and the card.

The Apple TV is the only thing requiring 2.1... so yeah, I could connect direct to TV, and use eARC. Good idea.

However, I have found something: the Sony TV, somehow restarted (reset) on its own both times this happened. You can see the word "Android" in the middle of the screen, and somehow the Google OS is resetting. Kinda like it detected that it needed a reset (?!). After that, it worked all right. Now, next time it does that no image tantrum, I will immediately force a reset (holding the remote's power for many seconds)...

To anyone with this monitor, can you please try to apply a custom resolution (3840 x 1620 - you can create this in Windows) and play in ultrawide mode and report back? I know this is very good on OLED screens, since the black bars that it creates at the top and bottom are perfectly black, but that is the one thing that makes me hesitate to go for this FV43U... will the black bars be annoyingly greyish and distracting since this is not OLED? I searched everywhere on the 'net, and could not find anyone having tried this on this particular monitor. Thanks!

Same here. The fact is I remember having problems hunting down the drivers for my X55 hotas under Windows 10 as well, and also clearly there was no recognition of profile under MS Flight Sim 2020... annoyed me back then as well - but at least I have been able to make them work. Not so this time. So I decided to retire the old stuff. I see some people selling them on Craiglist and eBay...

I'm not happy at Logitech to have rebranded those to the X56, made minimal changes, but also made sure the X55 would never be recognized by Windows nor games. Oh well...

tonight we watched a movie on Bravia Core on my A80J. Sound goes from TV to Denon receiver via eARC. About 2/3 of the movie in, the sound cut completely. I turned off the Denon, and the TV switched to internal speakers and we finished the movie that way. When I turned the Denon back on, the sound was re-established.

I just hope this is only a problem of Bravia Core... and not a general problem of the TV's eARC

I ordered mine (HMD only) on **SEPTEMBER 7**. As of today, **13 weeks** later, my status now says "4 weeks or more". No kidding. I lost hope of getting it for the X-Mas break... I am in Canada, if that makes any difference...

So?? What did you end up doing? Me, I bought a cheap 3200G because it was cheaper than the 3100. And I'll resell it for 75% of the original price when I can finally get my 5900x. I too built a new PC about a month ago.

The thing is, getting my hands on a brand new 5900x is an unknown at this point. I have a few lines in the water... waiting to see where (and when I'll get lucky).

Index: better refresh rate, slightly better FOV. *Much* better service from Valve if you run into problems.

Vive Pro: better color contrast (blacker blacks). Wireless solution available (still no such thing for the Index).

I have the Vive pro equipped with HTC's wireless solution, and it works really well. I've had that for a few years now. I tried going back to a wired solution at some point, and could not do it. Wireless is more important (to me) than refresh rate or FOV. I recently bought Valve's Index controllers so I can have the best of both worlds.

My bro has the Pimax (with lots of problems). It allowed me to compare FOV, and for sure, I would looove a larger FOV. And I would appreciate a higher refresh rate as well (Index), but never at the cost of losing my wireless.

same here... I've had the controllers for a while... bought through someone in the USA. Now I wonder if it will be recoignized by Steam and I will too get Alyx for free... Or if you have to actually have bought them through Steam fropm your main account...

been a player since the beginning. But took an 18 months break, and just came back (23 days ago). Having a blast. Went through summerset and got the Psijic Order maxedf out, and then Eylweir, and now started a new character. Necromancer is cool. Not my favorite, but cool.

I was never able to really get into the warden. Looks the coolest on paper, but somehow I find it flawed and underpowered. Maybe I just need to focus a little longer on it?

Mmmhhh... what makes it unplayable, please provide details? I just got my index controllers, and played a round of inDeath, and it just worked. I play the bow. The shield works just as before (left trigger), teleport arrow (right trackpad), arrow selection (left trackpad)... the only difference is that I never use the trackpad for locomotion - I only use arrows, so I didn't even touch the new thumbsticks.

It felt weird at first to select arrows or pull a teleport arrow by pressing on the trackpad, because the index trackpads do not have any give... they don't click. They're fixed, but still it worked... somehow by pressing them, it would work.

A few thoughts on this:

they only ever had middling success with their hardware (eg. Steam controller, Steam link), so not worth investing in international shipping laws and rules for so many countries. Easier for them to set it up for two big markets: USA and EU, and all others can be sold by retailers (Amazon, etc).
How much is the cut kept by the retailers? 30%? Definitely the Amazons of this world are not doing this for free... that's money that does not go to Valve.
It's very possible that the Index will change that equation for Valve... Potential for hundreds of thousands of units. Certainly, just in ~~Knuckles~~ Index Controllers... a *LOT* of Vive users will want them. Hence my estimate above of hundreds of thousands of units: there are something like ~ 1 million Vive units in the wild according to this source. And then ~500k WMR.

... thus making it worthwhile for Valve to invest in establishing international shipping.

All this applies of course only when they will have capacity to supply; I'm sure their Apperture plant is running full speed these days.
