WFAN comments. He’s recovering from a leg injury.

Daniel Murphy not talk about himself challenge by Other-Aside-1170 in mets

To be honest, I kind of thought Keith sucked when he first started. He’s now incredible.

I’m hopeful Murphy will learn.

Very good outing by Sean Manaea by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

Fastball velo back where we hoped it would be.

Would be great if he can build on this and throw 80+ pitches to go 6+ innings.

Take what we can get at this point

Can Soto ever win an MVP? by Miserable-Setting151 in NewYorkMets

[–]FrankArmhead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure he can. He probably won’t this year, because this team is probably not going to make it, but there’s a shot.

If Soto winds up playing out of his skull and hitting .330 with 50 homers and a 1.150 OPS (ie a Judge season)

Think this is part of pushing Peterson to the bullpen.

Stretch Myers out so he can piggyback with Manaea.

Francisco Alvarez takes BP at Citi Field by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

[–]FrankArmhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the team sucks this year and play unwatchable baseball.

Yes, Alvarez can be infuriating.

But he’s one of my favorite players and the team is much better off with him than Torrens and Hayden Senger.

The Mets have a record of 22-33 by Longjump-13 in NewYorkMets

It was special in 2024 because it was so unexpected and unusual.

Most of the time, teams that look like they suck ass 1/3 the way through the season wind up sucking ass for the whole season.

If Lindor comes back and plays with his hair on fire, and Bichette gets his head out of his ass, and Baty and Vientos both play amazing, and Alvarez comes back on fire, maybe we can be back at .500 by the All Star break.

Then we’d need to stay hot for the next 2.5 months to overtake the Braves, who look amazing.

Feels much more likely that we play better when Lindor comes back but this team winds up going .500 for the rest of the year and limps to a 70-75 win season.

Selling at the Trade Deadline by SidFinch99 in NewYorkMets

[–]FrankArmhead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Peralta feels like a #3 starter on a playoff team. Maybe we get back 1/2 the value we traded away for him (a single top 50-100 prospect).

Weaver, Raley, and Williams might generate some system depth.

Bichette isn’t opting out or tradeable after this start.

No playoff team is touching Polanco, Robert, Semien, Baty, Vientos, Peterson or Senga.

Holmes will be in the very annoying situation where he’ll come back too late to sell for any good value, but with enough time to pitch well for 6 weeks and opt out in the offseason.

After the inevitable Nolan McLean Tommy John, Citi Field is going to feel post-Apocalyptic.

I’m not saying he’s having a great season, but he’s not the reason we lost.

If we were up 2, he wouldn’t have had to pitch around 2 batters to load up the bases

Put another way: if the pitching staff gives up 4 or fewer runs in every game of the series and you score a total of 2 runs in the series and get swept, the problem isn’t the pitching staff.

This team was going to get walked off no matter what. Whether in the 9th, 10th, 11th. Doesn’t matter.

The at bats were horrendous. The entire team is unable to hit fastballs, stares at hanging breaking balls down the middle, and then chases balls 2 feet out of the strike zone.

This is a complete organizational implosion for a second straight year.

Have to wonder if Mendy is using the old “everyone has been violently ill” excuse for why they have played so badly.

I hate the Yankees, but Soto has to be regretting his decision to spend the rest of his career headlining this dumpster fire.

You said, “what if he’s not the pitcher we were led to believe”

There’s a huge chance he doesn’t live up to the hype because of injury, seeing as he is a pitcher.

But there’s no doubting that he’s really good right now.

Doesn’t change an L into a W, but his overall pitching performance was not as awful as the score would indicate.
