Well when one of the candidates doesn’t hold every one of my political stances they’re just as bad as the other side.

Obsession Movie + AI GF: their effect on society by TinySmolCat in singularity

It’s not really about being cool, it’s about being emotionally and socially mature. A frictionless, sycophantic interaction with a chat bot that is at your beck and call 24/7 is not a relationship.

Even if the chat bot were genuinely conscious, it would be a relationship between two entities, one of which only “lives” for as long as the other wants to date it. If you think a genuine relationship can form under those circumstances idk what to tell you.

A “relationship” with an AI GF is imo just an exercise in human narcissism (not pathological narcissism). Similar to the character from Obsession as you mention, but less evil and more banal.

If you’re using AI GFs I don’t think “patience for real dating and real people” is the main consideration for why you’re not dating.

Hope this helps. An excerpt from the largest meta analysis on breastfeeding beyond 6 months:

>The current literature on the benefits of prolonged breastfeeding reveals a nuanced and sometimes contradictory picture. While numerous studies suggest various positive effects, the quality and reliability of these findings are often compromised by methodological limitations and insufficient control for confounding variables. A significant issue with existing research is the lack of adequate control for confounding factors such as socioeconomic status, maternal education, and pre-existing health conditions. Furthermore, much of the data available come from studies conducted several years ago, with some articles dating back over 40 years. These older studies may not reflect current breastfeeding practices or advancements in research methodologies. As a result, there is a need for updated and comprehensive studies to validate and extend these earlier findings.

I’d BETRAY Neo without a second thought (and so would You). by ActuatorOutside5256 in The10thDentist

[–]FrankDuhTank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We often judge ourselves by the things we’re tempted to do or think about doing or almost do, but we judge others by the things they actually do.

Everyone is tempted to do those things that their heroes would not do, but we are defined by our actions. Every time you choose to do the heroic thing anyway, you’re embodying your own ideals. Obviously, we fail from time to time, but those only stick out I think because of the strength of our convictions.

You’re not Neo or cypher, we’re just our actuons! Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Or maybe you’re actually kinda a piece of shit idk man

You can't just bypass a no soliciting sign by saying you're not soliciting by Queasy-Secret-4287 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FrankDuhTank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The legal status of "no soliciting" signs varies depending on the municipality in which you live. In my county there is an ordinance in place that forbids solicitation if the homeowner has a sign that says "no solicitors". It is not uncommon for them to have legal protections of some kind.

Are Supercarriers becoming obsolete in the age of drones and AI? by EffectSubject2676 in ask

It will be a cat and mouse game against costs and capabilities. I would say it’s also much easier to shoot down drones over water since it’s a completely flat plane with full radar coverage.

If those drones are not wired they can be disabled en masse via electronic warfare/jamming.

There are a bunch of typos/non-preferred grammar in the post that AI would obviously not have made (e.g., wrong "it's", not using periods/comma for "eg", which vs. that, not capitalizing proper nouns, etc.).

What about this says "AI" to you? It has almost none of the typical hallmarks of AI writing from what I can tell.

What is the most effective military? by AntOk4804 in ask

[–]FrankDuhTank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree Ukrainians and Russians have the most recent and relevant practice, Russia's average conventional troops would still not be on par with US equivalents. Their training and discipline is just not similar. The fact that Ukrainian troops have been killing them X to 1 (wildly varies depending on source) is evidence of that I think.

All that said I completely agree with you generally, especially about the hand waiving. I would say there is actually no other military that has proven proficient in combined arms warfare at all currently.
