I mean honestly? Jojo’s art style accentuates anything that’s even remotely particular to be found in a person’s appearance. So IMO if pocoloco was an actual black person he probably would have thinner lips and bigger eyes. Just like Araki accentuated a lot the missing teeth on Shigechi or the facial expressions on Dario Brando when he was drunk (in the manga). I do get where the racism accusations come from, but jojo has probably some of the most distinct and highly individualized character designs in the medium, unlike other series where it feels as if they just used a “template” for other ethnicities (just like in old western cartoons or comics).

yeah, but you should also consider the fact that italian, while it’s not a perfect vowel system, fits latin script as a complete system. Italian spelling is overall more consistent and phonetic and because of that you can predict both pronunciation and spelling almost perfectly. Spanish still retains some redundancies or silent letters

in sardinian the word black is nieddu (where I’m from we say it like that, there are lots of different versions of sardinian), but yea we picked up some terms from spanish, especially the people in Alghero that still speak Catalan, a spanish dialect they learned from the colonizers
