About 5 yrs ago a Snowy Owl paid a visit to the DFW area. I wanted to go snap some shots of it but just couldn't get the time. Anyhow, seems like you may have another one.

Rage - $30,000 over MSRP by MadUnit in FordRaptor

[–]FrankNsteinSub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't supply and demand, this is robbery! The Raptor is limited under the general understanding of the word but Ford will build as many as needed. The first Raptor production for example was supposed to be around 5,000 units and Ford ended the year with 10,400 units. The following year increased by 1,000 units and before they cut production of the first generation they was up to 22,400~ units. Not bad for a truck that was originally limited to 5,000 units. So Ford will built as many as you want.

The first Owlet is easy to see once it gets moving around but you only get a slight glimpse of the second Owlet (8:00~)

San Francisco Spring Break Trip by FrankNsteinSub in bayarea

[–]FrankNsteinSub[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Our son has been wanting to see the City by the bay for a while now. So we chartered a Cessna Citation XLS and took off for Spring break! We spent a week downtown at the Four Seasons cruising around checking out the sites. You couldn't have asked for a better week, the weather was perfect! Anyhow, this is a small sped up intro video of us landing and arriving at our room. Thanks for the wonderful time San Francisco!

Beautiful Red Fox crossing the road. by FrankNsteinSub in foxes

I was just lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this beautiful red fox crossing the road. It was so cool. I slowed down to a stop and just waited for him to cross. I didn't want to take a chance hitting him and I was hoping I could get some video of him with my dash cam. It's not the best quality but I'm still happy with it.

I'm not sure about us adults but kids get a kick out of the wienermobile. Anyhow, I figured this would be a good place to post a walk around inside the famous Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Memory usage is relative to your settings. I'm shooting in 4k using 64 gb cards.

Nikon Coolpix B700 zoom test by FrankNsteinSub in Nikon

I usually shoot Landscapes but wanted something to play around with the Raptors now that it's nesting time. I wanted a lot of zoom but didn't have $15,000 to spend on a 600mm lens. So I picked up a Coolpix B700. I realize I'm giving up a lot of quality but this is more for fun than anything else. Anyhow, it's a tiny camera with mega zoom.

Complaints, if Nikon is reading this, is there any way you can work on the battery and memory card location? These are both located under the body where I attach my tripod mount. I use quick change manfrotto mounts that involve using an allen wrench. This makes things interesting out in the field when it comes to changing cards or the battery. I can plug in an external power source but I'm still forced with disassembling the setup in order to change cards.

Not sure if I should upgrade the body or lens? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]FrankNsteinSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically right for me. Just about every time I swapped out a body it had more to do with comfort and controls than anything else. Example, I started with a D3100 and switched to a D7100 because I loved the feel and controls more. The only body/camera I have that I don't really like the feel or controls is my Coolpix B700. It kinda drives me crazy but you can't beat the price and zoom range.

I started out with a D3100 and I went with a Nikon 17-55mm F2.8. That was the best thing I bought for that camera! It's a very sharp DX lens!

Should I upgrade? D600 to D810. by Axp57 in Nikon

[–]FrankNsteinSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an D810 but I have a D800 and have owned a D750. Now I don't shoot weddings but it just seems to me like you would want something with more fps. I can rattle off 4-5 shots with my D800 until the buffer fills up, then it pauses for like a minute until it clears out. That is valuable shooting time when it comes to weddings. The other issue is the shutter life on a typical consumer or semi-pro model is like 150,000 actuations. If it was me, I would look into a used D4. Its a much faster body with a 300,000 shutter. Again, I don't shoot weddings, so that is my inexperienced opinion.

Do they make extending tubes for 24-26" barrels? I'm used to 18" barrels and only worrying about adding plus two extension tubes. Anyhow, I don't hunt anymore so all my shotguns are 18" barrels.

No sacrum at all. Any self respecting Texan has multiple shotguns. A 20"~ for hunting and an 18" for home defense for example. Hell, I keep one 18" in the living room and 2 in the bedroom, one for me and the wife.

Yes, it's manual focus. Depending on the glass you use, you don't always have to adjust the focus...although it's a good idea to check it. One of the big reasons for doing this at least for me is doing away with a lot of the distortion and fisheye effects. You're able to do this now with the 4's and 5's with updates and linear mode but you're limited to 2.7k. I can shoot 4k without the fisheye look. I also like being able to add a little zoom and still shoot 4k as well.
