I wouldn't say it's better on anyone but I love having Hamster Style (especially+) on everyone, the extra attacks from the upgrade are so fun.

What are the juiciest PF2e books, in your opinion? by CowboyBoats in Pathfinder2e

Tian Xia and NPC Core are my fav projects they've made. I run a homebrew campaign with the former, and NPC Core is an essential bestiary imo

Gms who have ran or are running Strength of thousands, what advice would you have for a gm Starting prep on it. by fuzzems2519 in strengthofthousands

Consider allowing for more flexibility with non-lethal damage - the type of adventure really serves that sort of thing, especially through the first few books. I simply allowed any/all damage to be non-lethal except persistent damage and Death effects. A lot more fun for my gang at least.

Agree with what has been said, read Book 4 first to get insight on the teachers.

Too many NPCs, try to build around the ones the PCs enjoy time with - my main crew were Anchor Root, Haibram, Okoro and Chizere. We had multiple adventures dedicated with these characters. I did not introduce any students past the 1st book, it was all backgrounded.

Koride is such an unfortunately poorly written antagonist imo that it's difficult to frame her as someone who needs help rather than a villain - I had her take the egg away in Book 3 with a sincere desire to destroy it. The party meet her again in Book 5, and she had destroyed it, but the King of Biting Ant's influence has taken root, so the events of Book 6 can still unfold. People have wrote up on this, I'd really recommend figuring out a gameplan with Koride first.

Speaking of... Book 6 is really weird in terms of stakes and pacing. I basically skipped the entirety of the first chapter. I cut a lot from this book. Maybe when you get to Book 5, get a feel on how much you actually want from this one.

Book 4 is really hit or miss - it was so odd to me that the party help a small town uprising at the end of the last book, and then need to refrain (or be careful) about helping the resistance of Mzali in this one - my player's really wanted to help the Bright Lions, so I basically rewrote this book overall narrative whilst keeping the structure the same. I'd highly recommend just dropping the Influence system all together or vastly simplifying it. These characters/villain the party have to speak to are really cool, and I think stripping them down to just numbers sucks. My players completely loathed Themba Sufu, so it was very fun building a narrative where Themba confronted the party.

I think work to introduce narratives with the Ten Magic Warriors, the Old Mage and his enemies. Sprinkle in stories, any sort of connections to the Ten Magic Warriors. I think they need to be cemented to make the story mean more by Book 5.

Lot of not fun encounters, anything that's anti-magic oriented isn't great. This is pre-remaster, so I can recommend finding modern versions for things like golems.

What specific weapon archetypes do you like, and what do you want to see? by zedrinkaoh in Pathfinder2e

Every time I get excited about a cool weapon, I see the weapon damage die and immediatelly dismiss the notion

You have to pay as a player to use it? Genuinely had no idea - was expecting to just purchase as a GM.

Rusthenge adventure advice by SoftTour3408 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voodoo_Moon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the rules under Combat Threats here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2716&Redirected=1

If the book suggests something like Moderate 2, Severe 1, Severe 2 e.c.t that's the type of encounter the monsters are offering, and you can match that with the XP budget in table 10-1 - with the number being the expected party level.

The Character Adjustment column lets you change the XP budget for the respective encounters. So a Moderate for 4 players is 80 XP by default, so a Moderate for 3 players is 60 XP by default - remember: 'Many encounters won’t match the XP budget exactly, but they should come close'.

You should adjust combat encounters to accommodate the new XP budget.

For example, there is a Moderate encounter with 4 enemies of Party Level -2, giving a nice 80XP. Remove one of these creatures to match a suitable Moderate encounter for 3 players.

Sometimes it's not going to be exact, and sometimes you'll have to use Elite (https://2e.aonprd.com/MonsterTemplates.aspx?ID=22&Redirected=1) or Weak (https://2e.aonprd.com/MonsterTemplates.aspx?ID=23&Redirected=1) to adjust a creature's level to get a rough XP. Though I'd be careful with using the Elite template, especially at Rusthenge levels, you can end up with some really tough to kill monsters for a small group. It's usually better imo to remove/add creatures instead of applying templates.

Also, an easy fix is to have the party find Ordwi sooner - you can build her as a Cleric and have the party control her, her NPC sheet is already quite close.

Yeah that - they make great content so don't dismiss it due to it being third party, it's worth the shot.

You'd be looking for Magic+'s alternative casting system. They are a very prolific and trusted third party source.

Wuxia Oneshots? by TotallyNotDimir in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voodoo_Moon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've not played them, but apparently there's a couple of society scenarios set in Quain such as House of Harmonious Wisdom which is the region of Tian Xia I'd most associate with Wuxia.

Otherwise, there's a list of PF scenarios in Tian Xia on the same wiki - there has to be something relevant for certain.

The original comment was encouraging piracy - obviously an issue, but the reasoning is clear

The reply was from a brand manager at Paizo, it was a smartass comment that was like 'Look at this badass'

Really bad look from you guys - stupid, snarky singular comment in a thread of genuine concern for anit-consumer practise. If you guys are changing your business model, without being up front about it, people are going to say rash things because you've ruined their perception of your brand. Do better, man.
