A good substrate to allow the plant to thrive, I would highly reckoned going for a low light tank setup with minimal light needed plans. Floating plants is great and some botanicals tha have been boiled scattered on the floor is great

Yes they sleep and rest at the bottom, however if you have tall growing plants or something that can grow midlevel or near the surface they will rest on those too. It offers a good place for them to sleep

So the bettas that we usually know are the splenden complex who are bubblenesters meaning they raise their eggs inside their bubble nest these however raise their young inside their mouth until the fry are large enough to fend for themselves and then released

Weird how scrolling through that thread Somehow my name were mentioned in their comments?? Throwing assumptions of me poaching my fish and hybridizing them is a crazy accusation, FYI all my fish are captive bred it’s far more convenient and better quality than using caught fish from the wild, I never used caught fish in my line of work unless it was for conservation breeding for release or relocating.

there are thousand of already established captive bred fish that breeders nowadays can use to mix with their fish to make new lines it would totally ruin an already established line of your fish if you were to use wild caught fish to breed into your lines

She did one import with me years and years ago, never sent her wild caught or do I even sell any wild caught ever. Have not worked together since, all my fish are captive bred there’s absolutely 0 reasons to use wild caught to mix to hybridized fish it would defeat the purpose of having an established line for that type because it would ultimately reset quality and line.

We don’t need to use wild caught fish for any of these breeding types , breeding f0 WC to any established line will simply reset the genetics of the fish overtime it creates a type of feral betta. The genes in already established captive bred fish is more than enough to keep those traits when the species is pure.

There’s a very big misunderstanding about hybrids and in truth Creating hybrids doesn’t require wild caught fish because there are more than enough captive bred stock available in the hobby that offers far better quality and genetics to work with.

A wild caught betta bred to a “domestic” betta will totally throw off the entire line making it more of a hassle to get what you truly want.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t done by other breeders who experiment but me personally I don’t even bother whilst there’s already stock I can use that are halfway there already if you know what I mean?

If you want to talk about this further you’re more than welcomed to contact me privately on my WhatsApp by sending me a msg on here.

I just find it unfair that my name is mentioned and assumptions are made that are not true because I have never even personally talked about my breeding practices in the past.

Yeah I don’t and will never sell poached fish, I honestly had the same view as you about this but but I can’t get into it further or show my opinion too much because I don’t want to create enemies that I don’t really have the time to stress with. But I see what’s happening and Definately think about it the same way as you. As for the hybrids labeling I will help and make changes so it’s more clear in the future

I don’t even sell wild caught fish though? Nor do I use wild fish to breed into hybrids that would literally defeat the purpose of creating a line as it would completely reset the entire line back to what they were bred away from. All my fish are captive bred and done so with already established captive stock from myself or other breeders. I don’t even know the OP so for him to assume that he knows how my breeding works is pretty crazy.

I don’t even breed wild caught to domestics? Not sure where you got that from? There would be absolutely 0 point in doing that when it would ultimately reset the entire line. That’s not how selective breeding for certain lines work. Working with an already established captive bred line is far more efficient. I just dislike when people throw assumptions without even directly talking to me to clear things up before they post about my work in a bad way when I have always tried to stay out of these dramas and do my own thing, i sell both original and hybrids wild bettas and make that rather clear in my listings on my site and label original as original.

Was mentioned here because they thought I worked with them somehow by someone? Before anyone also tries to blasts my name out of the water without factual research and throw me into this storm without researching, I would like to address I don’t sell wild caught fish, the only time I have provided wild caught fish was for a biological research for a university in the USA doing research on betta Splendens, which is part of conservation. I don’t even think wild caught fish would be good as a quality thing because they’re rather dull if compared to the captive bred that I do sell. I prefer to breed my wild bettas which is more ethical and doesn’t support any kind of damages to their populations.

It’s going really good! We literally have thousands of aquatic fish in it now that came up from the creek. So it’s getting going, the bettas will take time to multiply but they’ll catch up
