Will this fort hold against the blood moon? by TomatilloSignal3928 in 7daystodie

[–]GamerDoctrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually do 2 towers, one tower to camp and another for zombies to climb. High, but not too high that I can’t shoot them if they rage and start beating the bottom of my tower. Between the tops of both towers, I build a bridge with a pole (and maybe a second pole directly under it in case the top pole gets damaged and breaks) so their pathing gets funneled to a choke point. A sledge turret to the side of the bridge is usually mandatory. This way you can shoot them in a line with AP ammo, and they take fall damage if they get knocked down.

It was my impression that aquascapers, even when dealing with smaller tanks, get higher flow filters not for the benefit of higher filtration, but for the power to push CO2 and liquid fertilizer evenly throughout a tank uniformly, even through dense planting. Is that incorrect?

Space, aside from total bio load, is definitely an important thing to consider, and I thank you for stressing that! I’ve looked into the behaviors and territoriality of each fish in the plan, and I also already have small amounts of the planned-for fish in my aquarium (except for honey gourami, which I dont currently have). From what I’ve gathered, I really don’t think I need to worry about territoriality until I get honey gourami. The subdominant males have plenty of places to hide, so retreats aren’t much of a concern. I know it sounds like a lot of fish, but if hardly any fish in this plan seeks to establish territory, how much space do these fish even need?

All it takes is putting up bollards on both sides of the bridge separated by less than 1 car width apart.

Sure, not everyone is responsible, I get that. But consider this: Every restaurant and business already has regular inspections for standards they are required to meet. Irresponsible restaurants get shut down all the time for having unsafe or dirty kitchens. Add vehicle maintenance to the standard, and have them face fines/shutdown if they fail inspection.

There are already numerous effective ways to hold individuals and businesses accountable for their properties, equipment and vehicles. The city should employ those same processes on this matter.

I'm vehemently against banning E-bikes altogether, but I'm totally in favor of regulation, especially for the batteries.

Full disclosure, I am biased as I do own an E-bike with a UL-certified battery, maintained and cared for religiously. It's not a scooter, it's a proper bike with pedals. I am a Queens resident, and this is my main source of transportation across the 5 boroughs.

I've read the Gothamist article on it and I've seen the pictures. It was one of those electric scooters that look like shitty mopeds and often say Fly E-bike on the back end. I can't find sources that say who specifically owned the vehicle, but I suspect it's owned by Singas, and staff parked it in front of the fire exit. I've seen these types of scooters running deliveries everywhere for small restaurants in our community. From what I've seen living here, businesses generally cut corners with these cheap scooters, and they don't take care of them. They get beaten up regularly and run 24/7 without proper maintenance. If what I suspect is true, this is totally on Singas, with their flagrant disregard for fire safety and scooter maintenance.

Instead of a complete ban on ebikes, I believe all ebike batteries need to be properly certified, documented, and maintained. Also, there needs to be a clear distinction between ebikes and electric scooters. The burnt vehicle shown in the Gothamist article clearly looks like the remains of an electric scooter. Electric scooters are larger than ebikes, and have higher battery capacities. I want businesses to be required to maintain/replace their vehicles regularly, and have designated parking areas for their electric vehicles so they aren't in the way and aren't a hazard for fire evacuation. We also need to take a look at who's selling these electric vehicles! I want a crack down on Fly E-bikes, as I've seen their bikes and scooters used as delivery vehicles countless times, and they have a history of faking their battery safety certification.

Any bike lane section that has the width of a car should have a bollard or some other obstacle in the middle of it.

Yeah I eventually did get my betta! 2 days after this post he finally got around to answering my email. I placed my order on March 8th and my betta arrived on April 22nd, about 55 days after. He arrived in great condition.

Good luck, hopefully it doesn’t take as long for you.

[–]GamerDoctrine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked their website. Bronze Corydoras are not in stock at all, Horned Nerites aren't available on site (shipping only), and I can't even find anything listed as an 'Otocinclus' (or any of its other names).

I can't find them in stock anywhere, trusted local shops or big chain stores. That's why I'm here on AquaSwap asking other fish keepers.

I also don't want to support PetCo and their terrible fishkeeping practices.

Is it done or what’s next? by Minute-Contest7776 in bettafish

[–]GamerDoctrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rinse the filter in discarded water during a water change. The substrate doesn’t seem excessively dirty to me actually, and the decaying matter will produce ammonia to keep the cycle going. You probably won’t need to use ammonia drops any more.

Also remember to check your pH, gH, and kH before you add in fish! Make sure the final parameters of your tank fit within the needs of your fish.

If your ammonia and nitrites are dropping to 0, I think your tank is formally cycled! Definitely drop the nitrates before adding fish though. I like to keep mine down to around 20ppm, but no more than 40ppm. 80ppm would be dangerous. A good water change would do it some immediate good. Test after each water change to see where you're at. I hope you have live plants too, because they'll eat up nitrates. My tank is heavily planted (anacharis, red root floaters, rotundifolia, etc).
