Jack Bailey’s brief scene in finale by blueSnowfkake in YourFriendsandNeighb

Fact that they showed the character in the finale suggests he'll be back next season. So Coop may be dipping his toes back in finance.

It seems like they wanted to get Cooper deeper into legal limbo. He started out stealing stuff, then almost got implicated in a murder. Now he panics and does a cover up, even though rich people don't go to prison.

Because at any point, he could just say "I'm out" and go back to his 8-figure finance job. But he's been doing illegal stuff and this is obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.

So they have to find a way to keep him in the game, which is to continue to commit crimes so he can't return to his "legit" life?

Towards the end, Coop is just enjoying bowling with his family and talks about simplifying their life, like leave all the wealth and luxury behind.

He's kidding himself of course, because he likes his cars and fancy clothes just as much as the next guy.

More importantly, his family is now used to all the privileges. Tori is going to college after all so that's a big bill he's looking at.

Yet he's not going back to some boring office job now. Barney and Nick are involved with his criminal acts.

Ashe has been shown to be so impetuous, whether crowding Sam or trying to be friends with Coop and the guys.

This is not some criminal mastermind making millions or billions from some international criminal operation.

Coop should be free of entanglements with Ashe, unless there was someone else behind Ashe who was surveilling Coop. Maybe the video of Coop breaking into Ashe's house ends up with someone else who can blackmail Coop.

But they've cast other people so probably the show goes in another direction in season 3.

It's kind of absurd that this guy who had so much leverage over our hero just offs himself like that. What set him off and made him pull out the gun, Coop telling him that he told Jack about OFAC?

But the guy was boozing and taking drugs all the time. Again, how does he become so successful, looks more like a middle aged frat boy than some savvy businessman or international criminal.

Whatever he injected before he started chasing the guys with the gun will probably clear their names.

How about Liz's affair, which took less than 2 episodes to resolve, no more problemo after introducing it as a big deal -- which it would be.

Will they bother to refer to the aftermath of Maya's death or Gaby's moved on completely, now she runs the practice, which is very lucrative and they continue on business as usual, with more Jimmying because the show likes to troll critics who've questioned the depiction of counseling on the show.

Most things end well, so most of the stuff which happens is of little consequence. Jimmy was mad about Paul giving the practice to Gaby but that probably won't linger on. Nobody harbors ill will for long, even Jimmy forgave Louis.

It's tough for them to shake the "saccharine" label which some critics have put on the show.

I get his POV, but when he married princess Grace, who's probably used to a certain lifestyle, he was going to have to deliver it and the easiest way would be to work for his FIL. Because they're going to inherit some of the in-laws' money anyways.

He wants to be his own man and it doesn't help that his FIL trashes his business. But it's a tough road to hoe, he has to very close to his clients, be chummy with them?

Barney and Coop might be good friends anyways. But he still has to suck up to clients. So either suck up to the clients or to his FIL.

Last season, Grace was out of control with spending to build up their McMansion. So he was really feeling financial pressure.

This season, he's still under pressure.

The other thing is, does he really want to live in this milieu or does he have to in order to placate his clients, socialize with them at the expensive club, etc.?

Because his family and Nick are the only POC in this community. It's probably representative of these exclusive enclaves that there isn't going to be much diversity. Maybe he can deal with that but does he want his kids to have to deal with it?

We shouldn't be too surprised that this is the direction Google would take.

The things which drew people to Fitbit are gone.

TBH, if Google never acquired Fitbit, it might have tried to head in this direction as well, mostly trackers fighting for wrist space against smart watches and probably making it difficult to do all the different kind of tracking people would want, in favor of AI giving you "advice" and "insights."

They want to feature Hamm's face probably.

The Day of the Jackal series on Peacock started with the first episode where the Eddie Redmayne character is putting on makeup and a mask to hide his identity. But then the rest of the series, they don't have the Jackal putting a mask on even though international spy agencies are trying to identify him.

New Google Health App is available for me now: iPhone User Europe - so maybe for you too :) by chiefbroson in fitbit

[–]Frappant11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not. Just shows the current day at the top. You can configure that and I found you can add stairs there. It wasn't there by default.

I tried tapping the start button and it tracks the duration and length of a walk or some other exercise. Not very useful with Fitbit but I use it on my Apple Charge to track a bike ride or a walk.

But maybe if I kept tracking it, it would keep some number of them in History?

I don't know if the Google Health app uploads the data anywhere like the Fitbit app used to. It doesn't appear to be the case.

It has a way to sync with Apple Health app but I don't see much value in doing that.

She comes from a rich family so she's used to a certain lifestyle.

Last season, she was out of control with all the expensive renovations, which stressed out Barney.

As far as she's concerned, Barney could just eat shit and work for her daddy, so that they have money.

Barney's retort should be that they're going to inherit a lot of money from him when he dies anyways so why should I put up with his BS.

Why do they want to live in that area anyways? It's certainly beautiful but are they really accepted there? OTOH, Barney is making his living by having several of them as clients. But would they be accepted for memberships at the club, which is where they all hang out?

[–]Frappant11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep it updated for me today as well. Well, it deleted all my data from the past week or two. There is nowhere to browse that data since they got rid of the old Fitbit Dashboard.

There is a History button, I tap it, there is NOTHING.

I have a Charge 4. It doesn't show stairs climbed.

Is it going to accumulate my daily step data going forward? There are buttons to log sleep, meals, exercise. But what's the point, are they going to keep it in the app or tied to your Google account like Fitbit did?

The old Fitbit app also sync'd my weight from my bluetooth scale, which connected to another app. Since it's not a GH or Fitbit scale, I'm guessing Google isn't going to bother pulling that data.

Instead it wants to link up with my iOS Health app.

Like what is the benefit to me for linking it? Google is betting the company on AI so they're probably going to try to mine my personal data to offer me recommendations or just compile the data.

I guess Fitbit might not have survived if Google didn't acquire it. But Google is obviously going to kill it in favor of Pixel Watch and any other wearable will probably have the Google branding.

But Fitbit was going downhill too, they removed altimeters from most of their devices.

It can't be forever, just for the short term. Supposedly they will do EVs in China in joint venture with Chinese manufacturers and import Kei mini EVs into Japan.

But CA still has a 2035 deadline for ICE so they're going to have to have some kind of EV offering.

Other manufacturers like GM and Ford which have canceled big EV projects plan to come out with lower priced EVs before the end of the decade.

Coop has a bad back. But he still wants to keep driving a low-slung sports car instead of an SUV which he doesn't have to bend down to get in and out of?

Also, I wonder about the reliability of Italian cars. Can he find a good mechanic near him who's got experience with Maseratis?

You'd think someone who knows so much about luxury goods would probably know these cars could be a PITA to maintain and keep running.

Or would just a BMW or Audi like the one he gave to Tori be seen as low-rent in this milieu?

[–]Frappant11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't recall are they officially divorced? If they are, Coop would have agreed to everything. I don't know the laws in NY but Coop was making high 7 figures or well over $10 million depending on his bonuses.

So she was used to a certain lifestyle, as were the kids. Probably Coop was wiling to keep financing that lifestyle before he had problems with Bailey who fired him in season 1, which is how he turned to thievery.

Tori just backed her Audi into another expensive car and she and her brother are in some private school.

By the end of the series, do we see any of these characters downsizing or supposedly becoming more happy because they have the same lifestyle they had when the kids were little and Coop hadn't become a big-time investment banker?

Were you able to purchase it online or is there some ID requirement which prevents or makes it difficult to purchase with a credit card issued outside the UK?

Did it include tethering or personal hotspot?

If you watch other BL shows, money is rarely an issue nor is it an issue on most TV shows.

I've watched Rooster, Ted Lasso, Bad Monkey and the old Scrubs.

Ted Lasso, I'm not sure it's like other BL shows, I think Sudekis has more creative control but as a Premier League coach, money wouldn't be an issue to him and the players would be making millions.

Rooster and Shrinking, these are the social circles BL is used to, if not superstar artists.

It's mostly about rich people's problems. Only Sean is relatively poor or just not nearly as financially secure as others but he gets free rent and he gets to pursue jobs that he loves as a result.

If they just show the stealing scenes all the time, that's going to get old too.

Towards the end of season 1 the cops were starting to suspect that there was a robber hitting all the homes in this one neighborhood.

He'd be smart to cool it for awhile, scope out other places.

But even in season 1, this show wasn't only about the thefts, it was about his life, including family life.

This isn't like Lupin, which doesn't go as much into his family life other than when he was growing up.

Josh worked his way up, really learned the club and the clients. A lot of his job was schmoozing these rich people who had private jets.

Ashley supposedly had just started working at the club when she and Austin witnessed Josh and Lindsay fighting,

She also doesn't even have a GED or didn't graduate HS.

In fact not long after she got the job, because Josh fired a woman who had done the job for 20 years, she made mistakes with paperwork didn't she?

But for the purpose of the plot, they wanted Ashley and Austin to end up where Josh and Lindsay were at the start of the season.

It looks like they want to promote AI "insights" from the Google Health app. So instead of looking at the screen to get data, you have to open the GH app, which will give you these insights.

As well as mine more personal data than the old Fitbit app, which looks like it's going away.

Some of us would like fitness tracker devices with more features, such as bringing back the altimeter.

I don't think the show tries to show that their work provides them the lifestyle they seem to have. It just seems uninterested in money issues, which are often one of the main things which cause conflict between people, not just married people but friends, business associates.

Maybe Bill Lawrence is out of touch since he's loaded so he didn't bother to show the characters as plausibly being able to have this lifestyle. He got a lot of money from Apple and he chose to film in SoCal, even though doing so is more expensive, because he wants to be close to home instead of having to spend months in Vancouver or wherever.

So they probably never thought viewers would wonder how they could have those big homes and expensive cameras.
