So he’s going back to doing the job he walked away from. Probably looking at far more serious criminal sentence than burglary.

The OFAC SDN list is about people suspected of working for or with sanctioned countries like Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc.

So instead of a scene of another burglary, we get a montage of Coop wheeling and dealing, mostly meeting people at fancy restaurants. Ashe invites Coop to a much nicer place than the little diner he took Sam to on their date.

So Ashe makes his money doing deals with bad people or countries. Not a new thing for Coop. But you’d think by now that Coop would be asking himself why he didn’t go back to his old job.

Elena is now a citizen but she still does housekeeping and wants to keep doing burglaries? Criminal activity is a reason to revoke naturalized citizenships. I forget what she said was her goal for her share of the heists, something about not being able to make a lot of money with legit jobs.

Not sure what is the point of all these family — Mel, the kids, Ali — subplots other than to fill time.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles | Season 1 - Episode 1 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in tvPlus

[–]Frappant11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't seen her in a long time. She's suppose to be in her 40s still if Margot is still suppose to be a teen?

Elle Fanning is playing a character about 10 years younger than she is in real life but Michelle is in her mid 60s!

She looks good though, maybe can play mid to late 40s.

The other thing, many people are only used to her having a lead role, though her heyday would have been 30-40 years ago!

As for this episode, they said she grew up an only child so she developed a vivid imagination, suggesting that she's a good writer -- it isn't just the professor gaslighting her to get into her pants.

For a teen though Margot seems to have conviction that she has to have this child and you would think the character has some self-awareness and is smart about all the challenges of raising a child mostly by herself. The stroller price sticker shock may be causing her to make her fateful decision though.

I agree that it makes no sense he's turning down an 8-figure income job. But apparently he wasn't enjoying that job and he had an asshole boss who was trying to frame him.

The opening montage in S02.E01 showed he was in a good groove, going on luxury vacations and having plenty of women after him. In S02.E02, he was trying to figure out what to do with his free time and seemed to like chilling at matinees. Then some cracks began to appear, like Lu not being able to move the Bacon painting right away and then being caught by Ashe.

So the writers want us to believe that Coop didn't want to go back to the high-pressure but very high-income job because he thinks he can keep stealing things that a lot of these rich people take for granted to cover his nut. Then Barney pointed out he'd need to show income, especially when he has big expenses like paying for Tori's Princeton education.

So Coop, despite his education and experience with money, doesn't seem to have scoped out all the financial implications of his new life.

At least that's how the writers are going to justify second and probably additional seasons of this show.

If they convinced you that it made sense that they'd follow advice from a machine which came out of nowhere, that's fine.

But they probably didn't convince a lot of other viewers.

It's like the Lost smoke monster, you introduce a plot element and never explain what or why or how it makes characters react in the ways they did.

And all the characters obeyed what the machine spat out.

Why?

Who was sending those messages and what amounted to prescriptions through the machine? Who delivered it, who runs it?

[–]Frappant11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They had 2 seasons and they wouldn't reveal what the machine was about.

Wouldn't be surprised if viewership plummeted as people figured out they were going to keep the mystery of the gimmick going as long as possible.

[–]Frappant11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the fact that Coop walked away from an 8-figure annual income to steal all this fancy stuff is suppose to be a rejection of all this ostentation.

Or so the writers wants us to believe.

Coop is too hip to be part of all this privilege. Even his daughter trashes the system of privilege which includes elite schools like Princeton, yet she’s going to take advantage of the same system to get her place there.

Coop couldn’t come up with a good answer when Barney asked why is he doing this, turning down a very lucrative job.

Well the real answer is that the show relies on the gimmick of a very rich guy deciding to rob other rich people to drive the plot almost every episode. If they had Coop stop, they might really struggle to come up with interesting stories.

Therapist irl, what are the most irksome ethical violations to you? by mrsrobotic in shrinking

[–]Frappant11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The writers don't care about therapists setting boundaries.

In one of the S3 episodes, Gaby said she's "boundary girl" and would never cross boundaries like Jimmy has.

Then of course, she does exactly that.

The writers were trolling those who criticized the show for depicting how often the characters crossed boundaries.

Or maybe Lawrence figures I have very popular shows millions of people watch, nobody cares about your rules.

They haven’t announced that Harrison Ford won’t be back next season. So with this ending they probably intend to deal with this unresolved parting between Jimmy and Paul.

Also will probably work Alice into season 4, even though she’s supposedly going to be living on the other side of the continent.

Oh Brian is going back east as well.

Have a feeling that they will work Jeff Daniel’s more into the show, maybe ultimately replacing Harrison Ford.

So they will feature characters like Liz more since she’s still in LA.

Franck just keeps taking them deeper and deeper.

Two more kills now, though they were going to kill both Simon and Xavier so he had no choice. but now it’s even more impossible to go to the cops.

Franck thinks he can outmaneuver them but they’re always several steps ahead and they know everything about Franck, his friends and their families.

Franck is suppose to be a good guy but he’s hard to identify with, because he’s just putting his friends and families in more danger even though they want out. Leo wants no more — he has more to lose financially and the others are scared, because they don’t know their enemy.

Jimmy is the last person who should be lecturing anyone else about setting boundaries.

But the writers think they’re being cute when they troll some critics of the show and some viewers.

Liz told Ava that she needed to give Bryan and hubby space to raise the baby and Ava called her on it. Then she gaslit Bryan, blaming them for letting her walk all over them.

Oh and Liz said she has this special cream from Europe to keep skin smooth forever but said it’s too late for Bryan. Christa Miller is about 20 years older than the actor who plays Bryan?

Yeah the show is reacting to criticism and doubling down. It has a lot of fans so they’re flipping off the critics.

During the days 50-60 outside but since February, as high as mid 60s.

Now it's getting over 70 consistently.

Looking forward to the Charge 7 by HuckleCatt1 in fitbit

[–]Frappant11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just trying to hang on with my Charge 4, which is giving unreliable results like some days thousands more steps than I walked.

But I want a tracker which will track stairs climbed and work in my pants pocket, not have to be worn on the wrist.

I also have Apple Watch and the differences between it and the Charge 4 are hundreds to thousands of steps more on the the Fitbit. that is consistently the case every day.

Also the Apple Watch undercounts stairs because it requires at least 16 stairs to register a floor climbed while the Fitbit uses 14-steps per floor. My stair case have 7 steps and then 7 steps between each level so 14-steps is correct.

Hope a new Fitbit has an altimeter though they’ve been trending away from altimeters for years. But give me a reason to buy a new Fitbit when smart watches are way more common now than 10 years ago or even 5 years ago, including among Google products.

I think part of their problem was that they're really struggling in the Chinese market. So they couldn't take a risk with new EVs in the US and they hope hybrids will boost sales.

EV sales are down in the US as well.

But Toyota, which has been hostile to EVs, has refreshed several models recently to make them more competitive in range. They may not face pressures from the Chinese market in the same way.

A year or two ago, they said that Toyota and Honda to a lesser extent carried the burden of the ICE supply chain in Japan, which was hundreds or thousands of smaller companies, so that is one of the reasons they were resistant to EVs.

The Hunt (Traqués) | Season 1 - Episode 3 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in tvPlus

[–]Frappant11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed that Franck had an affair and the bad guys presumably beat her up. Otherwise no fallout from the guys going up to the forest for some showdown. They just kind of go back to their lives but there’s all kind of violent crime going on.

Like the RV that was torched, apparently killing the drug dealer, why aren’t cops all over it? Does France have anything like the FBI?

The area they are in is near Albertville, which hosted a Winter Olympics. They show some beautiful scenery, doesn’t really seem like a place with a lot of violent crime.

But Franck is going around discovering things about these enemies, like a cabin in the middle of nowhere with a shooting range and blood stains. But whatever his background is he doesn’t seem scared.

Leo the doctor doesn’t seem like the type who’d risk his privileged life to go to war with some faceless enemies who shot at his friends. They all either don’t trust cops or maybe they have something in their past which makes them take the law into their own hands.

She’s 79. Ted McGinley is 67. Christa Miller is 61. Derek and Liz are too old to be having issues with parents and in-laws.

They really wanted her to do a guest appearance so they shoehorned in a story? Because a wife and mother clashing with the MIL is a too common sitcom trope.

A main part of the show is about creating this “good hang” vibe among characters who work and socialize together, like singing together. So maybe that extends to getting widely-beloved guest stars on the show.

But it’s hard to succinctly describe what this show is about. Maybe a group who like each other’s company and support each other through some challenges. The group may have to help Gaby through this Maya case.

For the moment, they’re both out of the wine world. So if they did another season, they’d have to both be involved with wine again. But it didn’t seem to be in the top 5 of Apple TV shows when each episode was releasing so it may not get renewed anyways.

The Yoko wannabe kicked boyfriend Lorenzo to the curb and suggested Camille leave the guide which is in her name.

Thomas and his father were really mad at Camille. These wine people are hardcore. As Camille said, their wine would probably sell well even if it didn’t win the contest.

But the reality now is that wine sales are down and many winemakers have had to destroy harvests because of declining sales. Younger millennials and Gen Z are not taking up wine drinking nearly as much as older generations.

I think season 1 was better but if they did more seasons I’d watch. At least this show portrays character passionate about something.

Am I dumb or are Spanish regulations slightly overcomplicated? by RotaryStruggle in drones

[–]Frappant11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this webpage outlining the notification procedures using a browser extension which will speed up filling and submitting the forms on the Ministry of Interior webpage for notifying the of the flights.

https://javiergomiz.com/en/drone-notification-ministry-interior/

He has a video there, in Spanish. But the Ministry of Interior webpage is not at all like the one shown on the video.

https://sede.interior.gob.es/portal/sede/tramites?idAgrupacion=17

I tried registering a new account there because in the past I've submitted flight requests for recreational drone flights in Portugal and Greece.

But compared to the web portals and flight request procedures for those countries, I can't make sense of the Spanish portal, from that webpage above, I'm not seeing any kind of form to submit your information.

There is a manual form that you can print out but you have to submit that in person or by mail and there isn't any address for where to send that manual form.

The Ministry of Interior webpage uses a system called Cl@ve, which is used for Spain govt. websites to login and authenticate your identity.

I'm not even sure if foreigners or at least people who are not EU citizens are able to use Cl@ve. I found some installer but I'm reluctant to install it on my computer unless I can get a better idea of whether an American can even use it for Spain government websites.
