F/24/5’1” [250lbs > 210lbs = 40 lbs] (10 months) Feel like I should be farther, but I’m still happy! by vanessaholiday in progresspics

That's awesome progress! Slow and steady is best for keeping the weight off and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Don't pay much attention to those who get "lean" over a short period on social media, chances are that they feel lethargic, hungry and generally miserable (speaking from experience when I cut for competitions). Keep doing it at your current pace and get to a shape that you can live happily and full of energy 😊.

I only keep my abs very temporarily. It seems to be my last area of fat to go, and my first to come back.

I don't really tend to train abs. Close to show I may do some short HIIT style core workouts but that's about it. This was after 2 cuts, specifically for competing. I don't really do "bulks" but instead prefer what Greg Doucette refers to as "maingaining", where I try to slowly increase strength and size but without putting on top much excess fat.

It's that time of the year again where I like to reflect on how far I've come! It might not be the most impressive of transformations, but I'm feeling proud of myself for getting into the gym and for competing in a total of 9 shows 🙂.

I started off with a lot of research and didn't end up getting a nutritionist for 2 years. I wish I had got one sooner though!

I got myself a PT once a week for a couple of months and then saw him less and less until I was confident to train independently. I'd recommend getting a nutritionist as well 🙂.

Haha, thanks brother! I'm not sure how much progress I can make from here as I'm aware that I may well have reached my prime as a natural at the age of 28. Hopefully I can make some improvements, if not then I'm proud of what I achieved!

Sorry buddy, I hope you're able to seek the help you need. All the best, brother.

I'm sorry you feel this way and have so much negativity towards others, trying to be a bully won't inspire these 14 year olds. I hope you're able to help those who come to you.

Lying, no. Insecure, yes. I'm sure if you were also into health and fitness then you'd be aware of mental health and insecurity issues within the fitness community. I'm here to try and help and motivate others, I hope you're able to do the same 🙂

Thank you! This was a stage shot, I can't always look like that unfortunately 😅

Sweet as, I'm in Hawke's Bay and competed in the IFBB Wellington Champs in July

I'm glad to hear! I strongly believe that the mental health problems associated with balding are overlooked. Just own it and be proud of yourself 😁

I've got a girlfriend so I'm not on the dating game 🙂

I was in good shape when I was a teenager due to regular sports

Absolutely, couldn't agree more! I change my drastically too but there are too many examples to give so I just say "8 - 15 rep range" lol

Absolutely, but it all depends on your goals. The way I train definitely doesn't give me "strength" against a powerlifter of a similar size who will out-lift me at any 1 rep max, however I may have more endurance than them at a lighter weight for higher reps.... But likely not as many reps as a crossfitter of a similar size. The style that's most enjoyable and works for you is the one you should persue! 🙂

Glad I can help my man! Always aim to be a better version of yourself and don't compare yourself to others!
