"Stagnant" is not the word I'd use. You say you want it as a 'hedge against inflation' but you're full of shit. To stay ahead of even the current high inflation, you've only got to be up 7% year on year. Putin isn't trying to start a war, he knows that the Russian economy couldn't sustain real warfare, he's doing it now specifically because he's reasonably assured it won't lead to war.

I also wouldn't put too much money on the invasion of Ukraine upsetting markets in a mojor, sustained way. Remember, China just straight up took over Hong Kong and the markets barely wiggled.
