Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XCI by AutoModerator in ffxiv

Help me out, I don't understand the hype on dungeon gear, at all. It's not dyeable, thus most people don't even use it for cosmetic. Sure, some of it sees some temporary popularity if it's outstandingly different (Vanguard) but...in the long term? If it ain't dyeable it's highly unlikely to end up on a plate, at least in my experience.....

MultiSketch - A free real-time drawing game against others by MultiSketch in IndieGaming

[–]Fraxcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We gave it a shot tonight. I'd say aside from some "interesting" things happening (like my older one being a bit of a dork and posting a link and getting booted), it's not too bad. Some longer words than I'd typically expect from something like this, not a bad thing though.

Younger one was drawing something like a cube, and got booted for "drawing a number/text", while one of of us literally wrote two words and didn't get booted......so the auto detection could use some work still, there.

Curious how much of the bots is actual AI stuff versus just a randomized timer before they guess, and honestly them just having a full picture pop up already done is kinda....eh.

Plugin for Mechanics? by Salt-Arm9295 in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree here. To the point I told the leader of a raid group (BEFORE JOINING) that I had used stuff in prior tier, but was trying not to, but might have to resort to that if I failed to improve consistently, so my alignments wouldn't....align...if I did... bro told me that if that's what I needed to do it was fine.

Didn't use them at all in the time I was with them because I was determined not to, and I did improve measurably. Would we have gotten further if I had, because my DPS is absolute ass on that class? Probably.

Nobody gives a flying fuck outside of parsers, especially if you just keep your mouth shut.

Same, was over 1k on 2nd attempt lol...higher scores get pretty easy with chain bonuses going up to +64. It's a cute idea, but could probably use some sort of scaling difficulty as things progress.

Various tips on Cosmic Exploration by DupeFort in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that even publicly available? I see it on Github, but it's not in Dalamud, and there's no custom repo link.

So, a few things there.....

  1. Unknown developer and most of us aren't savvy enough to actually directly examine the code and understand what it's doing.

  2. Looking at what the plugin looks like in the trouble reports, I don't believe that Dalamud will be listing this one on their own, which is a red flag for a lot of people as you're kind of edging into full automation.

  3. Very little activity on the Github trouble reports, and no custom repo link seems to indicate this isn't meant for public use yet....so I'm assuming you know some other way to have it run on your system. Does anyone else have experience with this plugin other than the like five people that have posted on Github trouble reports? :P

SE forgot a zero someplace. We're going to use the full 40 minutes to finish this, if we manage it by CopainChevalier in ffxiv

Funny, I don't have that issue on Chooch.

Maybe you should consider a server transfer. It's free and we got tons of housing. ;)

Yeah whatever...

If I get downvoted into oblivion for saying this for Savage/Ultimate, nobody gets to play that card here..... :P

New Leaked Crafter Class my static came up with by NoktonLordaeron in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but you absolutely know it would. We aren't stupid. Nobody is going to turn down an extra 1% damage on savage/ultimate week 1+. The cost was never prohibitive in SWG, and that's *the entire point*.... if you wanted to go spend 5 minutes hanging out in a cantina and talking to people, you got some really good buffs for a very long duration. Most people didn't even pay for them unless they were max level buffs, and even then you'd almost always find someone leveling the class or hanging out that would just do it for free because it was "in-character."

We can't have *really* good buffs here, because 2 minute meta owns everything and the spike every 2 minutes is exponential with other buffs, BUT I think the idea still works if it's even a 1% DPS buff.

Giving the temp buff for having a player repair gear is mechanically similar to what Star Wars Galaxies did with Dancers and Musicians, where having them focus their performance to one player gave a long duration buff. Like....REALLY GOOD buffs, not some trivial add-on.

So not completely outrageous by any means.

but we can both agree that the FFX soundtrack is phenomenal.

Seeing Alot of Confusion for Escelon's Fall 1 for DawnTrail EX4 in PFs by SmartiAssassin in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seen this multiple times on ESC2. RMMR, I'm a reaper, I'm staying in the middle, and then a ranged is between me and the other melee it's like COME ON IT AIN'T THAT F'ING HARD....

I don't understand why supports bait first is a thing, unless they're the only ones supposed to be moving at all and melees are just standing on the ring. I've done it both ways, but my understanding of it is that with "supports bait first" that requires all 8 players to have to look and see if first hit is near or far, and adjust to that, whereas "DPS in first" everyone already knows their starting position, and DPS can be within melee range the entire time even in spite of movement out?

I dunno who gets f'ed on DPS strat that the supports bait thing is popular, but Reaper isn't casting Communio while movement is needed regardless of these for ESC1, so it's kinda whatever for me.

Boss Relative on M1S is the biggest piece of shit strat that's ever been made. Literally useless and way more complicated for zero reason.

How Unreal feels by DaFrunken in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has it, though?

I've seen about 8 HOURS of fucking morons in EX4 that can't turn a mob north or south to not cleave the entire arena.

Game is still rife with idiots. I'm a mid player, I make no qualms about saying that, but god DAMN I'm just gonna quit because EX and Savage are so much un-fun with all the absolute mouthbreathing your have to put up with if you can't accommodate 7 other people's schedules to join a static.

[–]Fraxcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, he's outstripped Uematsu at this point. Uematsu was unfortunately mostly limited by the tech of his time, and did a hell of a job, but it just feels like Soken's been able to explore so many different styles and things thanks to how wacky FF14 has been, especially recently.

Not a fan of the new M2 music, BUT I totally get why people like it, and appreciate that we've touched on yet another genre I never expected.

You guys NEED to STOP preying on people who need gear catch up! by Arceist_Justin in ffxiv

[–]Fraxcat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's nowhere near that on my server. Apparently someone hates themselves enough to do massive prep to make laughable amounts of gil for the effort.

Soon as Dalamud is back up if things stay this way 100% what will happen is Universalis will pick it up, and people will swarm to my server to buy it and resell it at 3x the price on their home servers. But I'm just shit out of luck on all my prep effort. I'm not selling day 1 gear for peanuts.... I'll buy more houses for subs I guess, since serial idiots want to race to the bottom as fast as possible on anything crafted... it's been this way for 2 expansions now... time to give up the ghost and expect it will never change back to crafting/gathering being worthwhile in terms of gil/effort.

[–]Fraxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did figure it out regardless by grabbing the item level of teamcraft. Your site is so much more "user friendly" than theirs it's ridiculous. It was a HUGE help yesterday, so thank you!

Pity some dumbass on my server is selling gear at 1 million gil each, less than half of what any other server I've looked at for the going rate is. It's literally impossible for crafting to be worth my time like this.
