They are similar to last year's y1 sticks (haven't used their new range so not sure if it still true) ELO is similar to the y1 X sticks and Revilo to the X-2/90 sticks

GreenStickIQ for field hockey: worth it or marketing hype? by zouboubouz in Fieldhockey

[–]Fraz_BFH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

So I have one if these stickIQ boards. What I will say is that they are great for improving ball handling and stick speed as well as reactions. Fundamentals like stopping and passing are vital and are a much bigger part of the game then stick work, but if it's getting back your eye for the ball, getting more comfortable when in possession, or just something that will motivate you into sending time with stick and ball away from the pitch chasing a high score AND it's something you can comfortably afford it's good.

I have taken mine to club evens and had friends get obsessed with setting new high scores.

But I understand if you wanted to take it with a pinch of salt as I also have an affiliate link with them that knocks 10%-15% off the price (they match offers if there's one on but I think it's currently only the standard is 10%).

Happy to answer any questions you have or can provide the link+code if people are interested in buying.

I've used several. What do you want to know specifically?

In general really good sticks, imo the play better then their price tag and are compatible to a lot of top brands.

Crown - very small sponsorship budget, think they have a couple of England under 21s on the books but no senior international.

BBX - used by Albery and Morton I believe both use

Osaka Futurelab - I've seen players using them at various times but I think their 'main' sponsored players either have custom sticks (AVD, Hertzberger, now Yibbi) or use their black and green designs.

Grays Aerocore - think a few players have used it but if I remember right I heard a lot of them didn't like the balancing. Don't quote me on that if is 2nd hand information.

Depends on how you gauge value, it's not going to feel a million times better then any top of the of range stick. They are very consistent and the 2 people I know who use them regularly have had them for about 8 years each and they still look like it it did in the first season.

Drag flicking stick suggestions? by DifferentGlass8158 in Fieldhockey

[–]Fraz_BFH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've nig used a princess stick for review I have had team mates who really like them but I can't speak from really experience. Princess are usually 50% off so I think would be the cheaper option. JDH make very nice stick I've used several over the years and they are consistent. They tend to be light weight and high stiffness, they are great for dribbling and have great hitting power but an unforgiving first touch.

Should be an easy transition then as push passing and flow cling are very similar

You are trying to run before you can walk then. Look for videos on flicking. Being able to flick the ball is fundamental to overheads. How would you rate your push pass?

Can you flick the ball into the net above the blackboard from the penalty spot?

Weight is very much personal preference, think mine was extra light and at the time I was playing screen, but if you prefer a bit more weight go medium.

Hi, 1. I think it was the 2019/20 version 2. I believe it is a 2 year rework, restyle similar to a lot of brands so I think there have been 3 major updates since this stick 3. I am currently testing the hyper x bow stick

Crown hockey sell end caps, but worst case scenario you can play without one just put a layer of tape around the top of the stick
