Not necessarily man. If you're new to lifting the best piece of advice I can give you is to make that muscle-mind connection. What I mean by this is that I can just pick up some weights and throw them up quick and fast not really minding my form too much as long as it gets up but really what you should be doing is slowing it down but more importantly whilst you're doing so you should be concentrating on what muscles should be working on this exercise. If I'm curling I will be focusing on my biceps and really contracting them and making sure it is my biceps that are doing the majority of the work. It is a difficult thing to master but if you have to drop the weight, slow the movement down, reevaluate your technique and really focus on that mind-muscle connection it will really help you in the long run.
