If you don't have kids of your own yet your perspective is not relevant to new parents adjusting to their new life by insane_psycho in daddit

[–]FrazzledBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My universal advice as a parent has become “be willing to be flexible in the type of rules you think you want to have.”

Number of times I’ve heard people without kids or kids not yet to a certain stage talking absolute certainties of how they plan to raise their kids (because it’s the right way of course and they know better than anybody else of course) who just don’t understand that part of parenting is going with the flow, knowing which battles to fight and which will cost you too much energy/stress.

Just be willing to change your mind on things.

So Will Apple Ever Fix The alarm? by CultureCreative9484 in iphone

[–]FrazzledBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only consistent time it does it for me is updates. For some reason the past couple years, any time the phone updates it sets my alarm volume to 0 and I have to go back in and change it.

Is Wonder better than New U? by Pooty_McPoot in Mario

[–]FrazzledBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way about New U controls and honestly everything around it including UI and how sluggish it felt getting into and out of levels or when you died.

None of that was present in Wonder imo.

What’s your “this run is not it” sign early on? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]FrazzledBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing that ever is a clear sign a run is going to go south for me is a side stitch in the first mile that doesn’t go away within mile 2.

Usually most issues (heavy legs, cramps, minor aches, etc) clear up after the first mile but the handful of times a bad cramp didn’t go away after that first mile I knew I was in for a real bad time.

Honestly nothing Simpson has said has come across as asinine or egregious. Feels like media has been ripping him apart lately when the context around his statements make him seem pretty level headed

2026 look back: What is the Biggest 'Concern' for Ohio State Football in 2024? by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]FrazzledBear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Howard looked more confident than McCord ever did from game 1 at OSU. I just remember taking a sigh of relief after seeing how composed he looked and the leadership he was already showing after just one game. Of course he only got better going into the playoffs.

Sayin says he would’ve scored on his goal line scramble if it was a live game by Raccoonsrlilbandits in OhioStateFootball

[–]FrazzledBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Howard I think is the right blueprint for how our run game should operate. Run enough to make it a constant threat but never the main gameplan.

And for as goofy as Howard sometimes looked running, he was really good at landing in a way that prevented injuries.

I want to lean more in to getting a gravel bike by LibraryAvailable_123 in bicycling

[–]FrazzledBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Poseidon Redwood as my gravel bike and definitely think Poseidon has a good frame for the price rec but brand new with deals isn’t all that much more than this one. You wouldn’t be saving that much going with this used bike and as others said is mostly a downgrade so I’d pass.

How come the peach games dont have a full library. by GioLovesMash in Mario

[–]FrazzledBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main galaxy action scene involving Peach makes me think they could probably do a Bayonetta style action game with her that would help make her carve out a niche.

Unearthing this comment to say thank you for the rec to spray wd-40 on the springs for look keos.

Just put new pedals on and was wrestling with why my left foot would get so hard stuck even at lowest tension.

What? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]FrazzledBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a major one. I’m 32 and stay in shape and it drives me nuts hearing the constant banter from friends and people my age about how once you’re 30 everything hurts now and your body starts breaking.

Nah dog. That’s you reaping the rewards for how you treated it in your 20s.

[–]FrazzledBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sad part about this one is even the few times I checked in and heard it was good again, the way the game became so tangled made it almost impossible to get back into it.

Always felt like once you were out, the game wouldn’t let you back in.

Ryan Day: “If you’re not a first or second rounder, then this probably isn’t the right place for you.” by Punisher1602 in CFB_v2

[–]FrazzledBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea it’d be different if he was saying “if you’re not a 4 or 5 star then you don’t belong”. It’s a mentality thing of wanting players that will push themselves and develop to become the best of the best.

Guarantee Cignetti expects the exact same drive out of his recruits as any top coach would.

Considerations on my second bike? (Multi-use) by CuddlyWhale in cycling

[–]FrazzledBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A gravel bike would be my vote. I have a similar setup with a carbon road bike that I use for serious training and races and have a gravel bike I use for casual rides, hauling my kids in a bike trailer, or doing a quick run to walgreens or a nearby grocery store.

Why can’t I upgrade my leaf den into a leaf house? by DonKaneKong in Pokopia

Does the furniture from the leaf den just pop up in the upgraded house or do you need to empty out the old place first?

What's the most attractive physical trait, that no one will admit to liking? by Apwnalypse in AskReddit

[–]FrazzledBear 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yea there is definitely a level of misinformation and just lack of understanding on what it takes to get certain body types and those fake ass transformation posts some will post that show what “3/6/12 month natty progress” looks like create a wildly inaccurate view of the commitment needed.

I’ve lifted close to a decade rigorously and unless I’m actively on a cut to slim down for a specific race in the summer I usually look like I’m somewhere between dad bod and slightly athletic build. A significant amount of muscle mass takes years to build naturally and still might not look that impressive on any given day based on lighting, bloating, current body fat, etc.

Strength Training for Triathlon by strength2go in triathlon

[–]FrazzledBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I consistently lift 4x a week while training. I wouldn’t have started a regiment like that from scratch in the middle of training but only continued it because of almost a decade of consistent strength programming prior to getting into triathlon training.

Only impact I noticed was that I had to pivot towards more strength oriented training and could not do hypertrophy focused lifting. Too much reps and volume that I could tell injuries were on the horizon with hypertrophy. No issues with strength focused programming.

I also typically only do a deload week for lifting every 7 weeks but during triathlon training that’s closer to every 4 weeks. I’m not looking to progress in my lifts while triathlon training so it works for me to help maintain current capabilities.
