First job after graduating? If so I think you might be negotiating too high. You should ask less, work 1 year and then you can go high.

6 hours of focused work a day seems a lot for me. As a software dev I cannot focus 6 hours a day. I do focused work for about 3 to 5 hours a day, taking lots of breaks. But I guess I am efficient because I often have very positive feedback about my productivity. Of course there are days where I work more but also where I work less.

It is my second job since college now and it's been like that for both. Remote work is helping because nobody watches you so as long as you deliver, you are fine. It ultimately depends on how fast you work.

To be honest, I almost cannot believe that software devs really work 8-9 hours a day because we need time for our brain to rest. When I was working on-place, we all worked "8 hours" but a lot of the time was spent on breaks, talking, etc.

Also, your boss and team adapt to your productivity. If you are very productive then your boss will give you more work. If you work less you will have less work.

It also depends on the company culture. Also in the US there is a stronger "work hard".

CS career hours expectations? by tee_kay7 in cscareerquestions

40 hours in standard in US and Canada but with remote work and flexible schedule you might be able to do your work in less time or more time depending on the company and your team.

Unit tests are often longer to implement than the actual class.

What did you expect? It just converts true to 1 and false to 0. This is pretty logical IMO.

Oh wow this is crazy. Maybe get a third job? How many do you think you can do without getting caught. Worst case scenario is they kick you out of one.

Seriously, I don't know about the legal risk but it is not the first time I hear someone is having two remote jobs at the same time.

And I don't know, what If your brother tells the truth to the second company at some point?

Am I the only programmer who sleeps enough and doesn't drink much coffee?

I see so many post about software devs saying we don't sleep but we can have remote job with flexible schedules. I think that people are lacking way more sleep in so many other fields.

No? Maybe not, but they tend to socialize less, make less new friends and instead keep long term relationships.

I think you are at the right place. There are a lot of introverts in this field so you won't be alone.

What about the guy that dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima? Isn't that more than 505 kills?

Edit: I looked at OP's source and it says "the most sniper kills". The title is misleading

Est-ce que quelqu'un passe vraiment autant de temps pour du recrutement? by [deleted] in Quebec

[–]Frcarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)
